Clemson University Tigers Men's Basketball History
The Clemson University Tigers men’s basketball team formed ahead of the 1911–12 season as part of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association. In 1921, Clemson joined the Southern Conference, and 18 years later won the conference tournament.Clemson became one of the founding members of the Atlantic Coast Conference in 1953. The pairing of head coach Bill Foster and dominant center Tree Rollins initiated a sea change for the Tigers in the late ‘70s, culminating in the team’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1980.
The team advanced to the Elite Eight, which is still the team’s performance in the tournament. Foster’s successor, Cliff Ellis, led the Tigers to their sole ACC regular season title in 1990, while head coach Rick Barnes guided the team to three consecutive NCAA tournament berths from 1996 to 1998. During current head coach Brad Brownell’s tenure, Clemson has made March Madness appearances in 2011, 2018 and 2021.
Several notable NBA players played college basketball at Clemson, including Rollins, Horace Grant, Larry Nance, Greg Buckner, Elden Campbell, Trevor Booker, Will Solomon and K.J. McDaniels.?

Clemson University Tigers at Littlejohn Coliseum
Littlejohn Coliseum, home of the Clemson Tigers men’s basketball team, opened in 1968. It was named after Clemson alum and the university’s first business manager, James C. Littlejohn, who had previously helped construct the South Carolina school’s prized football venue, Memorial Stadium. A bust of James Littlejohn, as well as a statue of the Littlejohn Tiger, have stood on the premises for decades. The 9,000-seat facility underwent major renovation projects in 2003 and 2016.?

Such a fun game with awesome energy during the game from the fans.
The venue is excellent form almost all vantage points and watching college basketball is always exciting.
First time visiting Clemson. Me and my wife fell in love with the town. Our seats were great, the concessions were swift and friendly and the arena was great.
Gave my grandson 2 tickets to the UNC V Clemson game for Christmas. I took him and his best friend. Our Beloved TarHeels WHIPPED the Tigers which made it a great day!
I love coming to Clemson to watch the games. Their basketball team is elite and the crowd and atmosphere are electric. It was very family friendly and great comfy seats. I will definitely will be back for more sporting events. I have never been to a college game experience quite like this. It was awesome and I left feeling content. Also, the staff was very kind and helpful. They have free parking and security directing people safely.
The experience was great and the bon secours center has greatly improved over the last few years. Hope to go again soon!
Very good game. Concessions kind of expensive , but very good selection.
My wife and 2 children (7&9) attended a Clemson Men's Basketball Game @thewell on 1/16/16. We had easy access to Parking Garage via I85S to I385. Parking was very reasonable, $6.00. Had a great lunch along Main Street. Lots of places to Eat & Shop along Main Street which is a very short walk from Parking Garage. Great job by Clemson and the Arena Staff making this place into a True Home Court, with a Game Day Atmosphere that would be envied by most. I strongly recommend for all Clemson & College BB Fans to make a trip to Downtown Greenville & the Bon Secours Wellness Arena for a very affordable and Fun Day. We're already looking to see when we can make another trip this season.
This was my first game at the Well -- a very nice environment and a great win. There was very good attendance, close to capacity even with underwhelming student attendance. The Tigers played very hard and managed to stay close during the first 30 minutes while Miami was hitting about 80% of their threes. During the last 5 minutes Clemson put together some stops and was able to pull away to the final margin. Some questionable calls and a technical on Coach Brownell seemed to energize the crowd and they really exploded during the final push. The crowd noise at the end of the second half was reminiscent of some of the big wins in Littlejohn.
