An impressed fan
by Gigi on 3/12/24Golden 1 Center - SacramentoRating: 5 out of 5The Center was a phenomenal venue for the girls’ state championship. The players were treated like pros and the event experience will be cherished by them for years to come.
I can not praise one member of the Center staff. He was stationed at the security station at the front door. I learned moments before getting in line that I could not take my handbag inside the building.
I found a gallon size plastic bag in my car and put my phone, wallet and glasses in there. (I was concerned for the safety of my “essentials” that I would have to leave in my car). He told me my bag was unacceptable
and could not be brought inside. A female worker had already seen my bag and said it was fine. I tried to tell him that, but he dismissed it, saying she didn’t have any power over the situation, that only he did.
After several minutes of this discussion I turned back in line and removed the items from the bag, put them in my pockets and proceeded through the scanner.
Once inside the building, I returned my belongings to the plastic bag. Several other women in our group showed me their handbags that were larger than my bag and said they had no problem getting in.
One lady checked her bag and was given a
Pillow case sized plastic bag for her belongings.
This whole experience was distasteful and upsetting. It will not outweigh the excitement of the game, but it is an experience I will share with others.
I think a warning about handbag dimensions on the site where tickets are purchased would be helpful, and some customer service training for the employee would be worthwhile.
