Childish Gambino is the stage name of Donald Glover, a rapper, actor, writer, producer and multi-hyphenate from Stone Mountain, Georgia. The DeKalb County native self-released a number of mixtapes from 2008 to 2010 before starring in the NBC comedy Community for five seasons. While appearing as Troy Barnes in the cult comedy series, the rapper dropped his debut album, Camp, in 2011. He followed that LP in 2013 with his sophomore effort Because the Internet and earned his first Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Record of the Year for his 2013 studio set Awaken, My Love! and its single “Redbone,” respectively. In 2018, Glover unveiled his politically charged single “This Is America.” The track went viral thanks to its cinematic music video, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning the artist four Grammys including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video and Best Rap/Sung Performance. In 2020, Glover surprise-released his fourth album 3.15.20 on his website, where it played on loop for just 12 hours. It was officially released a week later. He plans to drop two albums (his final two as Childish Gambino) — Atavista and Bando Stone & the New World — throughout 2024 ahead of The New World Tour.

The concert was high energy with an occasional slower rhythm. The man knows how it's done though. I didn't know all the songs but my main reason was for my kids to enjoy. And they surely had an amazing time. Thank you for a great experience. Oh and on top of all the greatness, we got upgraded to a lower floor with better seats. We absolutely L.O.V.E.D. it.

by Jake D on 9/7/24Amalie Arena - TampaDonald Glover (Childish Gambino) is unlike any other artist I have ever been a fan of. Not only was his performance emotional, clever, passionate, insanely demonstrating of his talent, and even funny at times, but the creativity of this show was beyond anything i have seen. The show incorporated at least 5 different kinds of light/laser shows, two of which were my first time seeing, and had some spectacles that I was NOT expecting. He catered to every type of fan by playing songs off of his recent album, as well as some of his first songs from over a decade ago. He even played unreleased music that I think only his real fans know of. But even if you were a casual listener, this show was upbeat and fun, and then at other times it was deep and thoughtful. He even made sure to spend time on both stages, as well as various spots on the floor so that every fan had the opportunity to be up close and see him perform. You could tell every aspect of the show from his set list to the lighting was carefully crafted and well thought out before being brought to life. I have been a fan for as long as i can remember, and this was my first opportunity to see him. It was a performance i will never forget and will be forever grateful for. The merch lines were long, but to my knowledge none of the tables ran out of merch even after the show had ended, and there was even a limited edition vending machine to purchase your choice of various items. Again, let me reiterate: This was the best concert I have ever been to and Childish Gambino is truly one of a kind.

The only thing that spoilt it was all the open weed smoking that made it hard for me and my daughter to breath at times during the concert at Amalie Arena in Tampa.
