This was not what was expected. Mediocre at best. I felt like I was a children’s elementary school play. Not worth the money.
I thought there were technical difficulties because of how long the Symphony played before the curtain went up! Once the performers came on stage it was very obvious changes were made to the Party Scene...boring!!! Some of the dancing was sloppy throughout. I paid more than $100 a ticket and brought my mother-in-law and other guests and we were very disappointed. The Sugar Plum Fairy was the highlight! Act 2- the Chinese Dance-Dance of the Reed Flutes with a male dancer- eh. Not impressed. I wish they had left The Nutcracker as is!
The best version of the Nutcracker I have ever seen. Loved the children and the professional ballerinas. The sets and costumes were fun and beautiful
What a wonderful combination of dance costumes and magic . The orchestra was spectacular as well!
I would like to say that the actors did a good job. The staff was very nice, and the majestic music and the decorations were the best of all.
The music was excellent as were the dancers. My disappointment is with the sets. I have not been in a few years, but my memory of the sets is different. These were just not in keeping with the high quality of the production. Just disappointing.
This was the first year for me, my granddaughter, daughter, sister and sister in law. We all loved it! The music was exceptional, the dancing so mesmerizing. It was pure magic.
I took my daughter to see the Carolina Ballet's Nutcracker. It was a beautiful, artistic performance. We loved the talented dancers, story telling, and incredible sets and costumes. It was the best experience!
Wonderful! Costumes were beautiful! Enjoyed it thoroughly!
This relatiively new Nutcracker (which premiered last year, 2022) delivers a fresh, new taste of an age-old tradition. The choreography is very exciting, the dancers do a Herculean job with it, and the costumes are dazzling. The real magic acts performed in it are truly professional, and they add a wonderful element of humor - a rare treat in a ballet! I was particularly impressed by how much the choreography used challenged the child dancers, and they stunned the audience with their talent; especially impressive given how young they are. The whole production was just perfect; I attended again this year with 3 friends, and they adored it.
The show was good but my mobile ticket did not work. I could not open it. What a terrible experience. Ticketmaster turned my experience. Had to go see at least 3 people then ticket office to confirm my purchase and get a real ticket.
Not the traditional victorian version. Followed the story but with a twist.
The music was wonderful, and the symphony did a great job. It was a nice interpretation of this classic ballet, with only a small cast for the first act. The mouse costumes were fantastic and the battle scene with the toys was a highlight. However, some of the ballet pieces in the first act were replaced by other dance types (or no dance at all). The principals were skilled and graceful on their own and in pas-de-deux pieces, but the corps de ballet was out-of-sync in the ballet pieces. Some exceptions were the dance of the dew drop fairy and the highly energized candy canes. Overall, it was an entertaining evening!
Very talented performers. Loved the live music. The harp player was amazing.
I'm not sure why dance companies feel the need to mess with a timeless story. Take the show back to its roots.
The ballet cast was simply amazing. It was truly an amazing performance from the beginning to the finale. I wish it was possible to see this show multiple times. I’m eagerly awaiting the upcoming shows for the rest of Carolina ‘s season.
The 2023 Nutcracker is two hours of dream and imagination. We are very fortunate to have The Carolina Ballet.
This was just the experience I was looking for. :)
This was the first Nutcracker Ballet my daughter and I have been to since she was about 10 years old. We both loved the show, but the male ballet dancers were not as spectacular as I remembered. Of course we watched a different ballet company this time (last time was the San Diego Ballet). I personally was a little disappointed that the male dancers did not perform the Russian dance as we hoped to see. As for the rest of the ballet, it was a good performance overall. Other than the problem above, everything was great. I loved the fact that the concessions sold wine and other beverages.
