A solid performance and terrific theatrical experience from Brooke and band. It was a little disturbing watching her deal with a broken foot from the previous night but that didn't stop her from letting the music take over.
She's charming and exudes a wonderful energy. She and her band are amazing musicians. <3 you Brooke!!
These tickets were a gift to my wife and it ended u being a nice Valentines Day out, something we don't usually make a big deal about. We had to drive down in a snow storm, but it was worth it, people that didn't come out because of the weather definitely missed out. The show took a while to get started and also the transition between the opening act and Brooke was way too long. Brooke's show was very good overall. The music was very electronic in the spirit of her new album which makes sense, and I thought they did some really clever remakes of her older material to fit that sound. However, I kind of would have enjoyed having some of the songs done in her more natural style of acoustic guitar, piano, regular drums, etc. even if it was just one or two songs at the end done that way. Brooke did a great job overcoming the foot fracture she was suffering from and her interaction with the crowd and conversational style was very fun and personable. The sound was good in many ways as far as the music goes, but her voice sometimes got lost in the mix and I felt the sound engineer should have brought the instruments down a little fix that. We were up on the 2nd level so I don't know how much that affected what we heard. We definitely look forward to seeing her again in the future, please come back!
I loved the show. Brooke is a very good singer/musician and she is funny.
Brooke was such a great sport, broken leg and all.
Brooke Fraser returns with an assured performance presenting her new album Brutal Romance, moving in a new direction, away from light folk pop and in to brooding electronics. Staging has also changed to more lighting effects and Brooke herself taking center stage and not behind her comfort zone of keyboards and guitar. This might be darker and louder than fans of her earlier work may expect but she bravely explores and grows in her musical journey. The set was tight focusing mostly from the new cd but also reworking a few oldies. Her usual funny stage banter keeps the crowd in her grasp. Even breaking her foot from an unsecured guitar didn't diminish her spirits and she still made the time to do a meet and greet after the show. Strong solid vocals and fine band made this a memorable show.
What can I say? Brooke Fraser is always amazing. Her new album took me a while to get used to and, while it's still not my favorite, her new songs sounded amazing live and helped me to understand them better. She's a beautiful songwriter and I was honored to be there. Thanks Brooke!
Brooke Frasier and her band were amazing! Her vocals were spot on and the sound was excellent. The opening band was great as well! I will definitely see her the next time She comes around.
The concert was lovely! Brooke has an incredible voice and she is really funny and sweet. Fabulous performer, even with an injured foot!!!
