Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 1/25/10Coach House - Capistrano - San Juan Capistrano Rating: 5 out of 5 Let's see more of them
by TheDr on 1/25/10Coach House - Capistrano - San Juan CapistranoIt is rather sad that Billy Vera and the Beaters aren't more available. I've seen them twice in the past year and would gladly see them more often, if they played more dates. Their reportoire is so wide that I don't think one could tire of them. What sells, however, is their top notch professionalism. The two opening acts at the Coachhouse last Saturday night seemed pretty good until Billy and the Beaters took the stage. Their tightness, antics, and Billy's almost comedic delivery of song introductions puts them into another plane of performance. They are better than a lot of other so called top acts in that respect. Really, about the only bands that are better, that I've seen recently, is the James Taylor and His Band of Legends and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. I see a lot of concerts, mainly through Ticketmaster (I think you should grant some of us regular customers some privileges like better access to good concerts like James Taylor/Carole King- I don't have a AmEx so I still haven't been able to get tickets despite trying over and over again) and these guys, especially the trombones, stand out. Send me notices whenever they play.
