Bands Were Awesome, Seating is Terrible
by Jenny W. on 11/13/23Stephens Auditorium - AmesAll three band performances absolutely get 5 stars from me. They're amazing, and the marching band is high-energy and very entertaining. But the seating situation at Stephens Auditorium is awful when they don't sell assigned seats. They herd you in like cattle, only to make you wait in three separate lines (or, more accurately, masses). Then, once you're done waiting in your final mass of people, you have to race in and rush to whatever seats you're lucky enough to find. And to top it all off, I had to arrive an hour and 15 minutes early to have the pleasure of this awful experience. The auditorium design is less than functional (especially the bathroom situation), but I'll forgive the Cold War era designers for showing off their mad concrete skills back in their day. There's nothing that can be done about that now, but I'd gladly pay higher ticket prices for assigned seats.
