Despite their calm, clean cut exterior, the five Pennsylvania young men who make up August Burns Red produce high-energy metalcore music that calls to hard-rock ticket buyers. Formed in 2003 while in their senior year of high school, the quintet has since signed to Christian label Solid State and released six studio albums, including the most recent “Rescue & Restore.” That collection, which peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200, followed their 2012 holiday release entitled “August Burns Red Presents: Sleddin’ Hill, A Holiday Album.”?? Though the band’s tour plans have included multiple runs as part of the Vans Warped Tour, as well as headlining concerts in the US and Europe, August Burns Red has dealt with lineup changes throughout their decade-long life. Only three original members are still onboard to-date: guitarist JB Brubaker, guitarist Brent Rambler and drummer/pianist Matt Greiner. Frontman Jake Luhrs signed on in 2005, and bassist Dustin Davidson joined a year later.

Could barely hear guitar or vocals and I left the show barely being able to hear. I’ve been to shows at this venue since I was a teenager and I’ve never heard it this bad. Other than that, I was honored to finally see ABR in person after being a fan for years!

The OG’s of metalcore who have shown no signs of slowing down, continue to set the bar for newer bands breaking onto on the scene! These guys have honed their craft so well that they can literally swap instruments on a dime and play these songs that are 10+ years old like they were written last week! They also manage to keep their tours exciting by inviting bands like Spite, Brand or Sacrifice, Bleed from Within and so on to join them on these epic tours! I have been a “music guy” for most of my life (I’m 44). I love everything from Gojira to Morgan Wallen to Halsey to Heilung and I WILL NOT miss an ABR show when they come to my state! Take note friends! This is how it’s done ?? ????
