Atlanta United FC History
Atlanta United has gone from being one of the newest teams in Major League Soccer to its most supported. Since it joined the league in 2017, the club has led MLS in attendance each year and owns over half of the Top 10 most attended matches in MLS history. Awarded a franchise on April 16, 2014, Atlanta United is owned by Arthur M. Blank and led by club President Darren Eales. The club's opening season in 2017 coincided with the opening of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Originally managed by Gerardo "Tata" Martino, who led the national teams of Paraguay and Argentina, as well as FC Barcelona, before joining Atlanta in 2016, Atlanta United made the postseason in each of its first two seasons and won the 2018 MLS Cup. After winning the title, Martino took the Mexico National Team job, but left MLS with the highest winning percentage (.647) by a head coach in league history. The club then hired Frank de Boer, who led the club to two trophies: the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and the 2019 Campeones Cup, the latter of which Atlanta United became the first MLS club to win after it defeated Mexico's Club América.
In August 2021, Atlanta United announced Gonzalo Pineda as its new head coach. Pineda came from Seattle Sounders FC where he was a member of the coaching staff for five seasons. Under Pineda, Atlanta has qualified for the playoffs twice, in 2021 and 2023.

it was amazing game i will come again to the stadium
I always love going to soccer games at MBS…the staff is great (special shoutout to an older gentleman that greets and says goodbye to fans), there are tons of food choices, there are no bad seats, and the atmosphere is always exciting.
First time at the stadium and will be going BACK!! It was awesome!! Great team, prices were good, bathrooms clean and friendly staff. Will go see another Atlanta United game!
Usually teams have a home court advantage. Not so the Atlanta United in my opinion. I've only watched a couple of games. But it seems the refs have made some really technical calls against the ATL United that came with very harsh consequences. I hate to see that trend occurring in every major league: NFL, WNBA, NBA, MLB, now MLS. Refs in the major leagues appear to be like cops in everyday life: never there when you need them and when they do take action, it's always the wrong thing to do. So far as the venue goes, I think Mercedes Benz Stadium is the world-class venue in all of sports in the USA. Food prices are reasonable. Drink prices are reasonable. Parking is plentiful and reasonable. I love MBS.
Fun times but Ticketmaster should change their seat maximum to like 10-12 instead of just 6. Makes it difficult to buy for a big group of friends. The event was fun though. Thanks.
Overall despite the loss, I had an amazing time at the game. However, I was pretty sad and disappointed that I was informed there aren't accommodations for children like mine with autism. I had heard there was and I asked a member of security and was told that there wasn't and to just bring headphones to cover their ears. Thankfully, I was the only one of the family who went to the game, but I wanted to make sure if MBS would be something I could bring my kids to, and from my understanding, it probably isn't, which would severely limit how often I can make an event. There is room for improvement to be more inclusive, and if there was such a space, then onboarding training and information for all staff members need to be up to date as well. I would love to help in some way to help make this happen.
The whole event was just fantastic. I had AMG lounge access, great seats. Pre match communication from the club was outstanding. The stadium was excellent and I really enjoyed the whole experience. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Atlanta.
It was a great time, as usual. Concession pricing and service makes you want to buy more. ?? Right now, the TEAM is not as an exciting look … as when Hernandez was here. But it was a nice match to watch. I love the atmosphere!
Fantastic experience from start to finish, the Mercedes Benz stadium is an amazing place and the entertainment before and after the game was second to none, you could take food and drink into the ground visit several team store shops and see Mercedes cars, it was just a stones throw from the Marta stations and Atlanta’s Olympic park
As always the employees at the Benz are amazing. It’s just too bad that they got rid of XX beer!!
