Y La Bamba Tickets

Y La Bamba are an alternative/experimental band from Portland, Oregon. The brainchild of singer-songwriter Luz Elena Mendoza, the band’s lineup currently includes guitarist/bassist Julia Mendiolea, drummer Antonio Montanez, bassist Gordon Walters and backing vocalist/percussionist Isabeau Waia’u Walker. Y La Bamba released their self-produced debut album Alida St. in 2008. Additional full-length LPs include 2011’s Lupon, 2012’s Court the Storm, 2016’s Ojos Del Sol, 2019’s Mujeres and, most recently, 2023’s Lucha — all released on Tender Loving Empire. Rooted in Mendoza’s experience as a Mexican-American, Y La Bamba’s music is often bilingual, taking cues from traditional Mexican music like norte?o and grupero, as well as dream pop, folk and more.
