We Are Scientists is an American rock band started in California in
2000 who?ve carried out their last 20 years of art business from a
base in New York City. Founding members Keith Murray (guitar) and
Chris Cain (bass) have played with guys like Adam, Michael, Andy,
Danny, Chris, Matt, and Gary on drums, but for over five years now
have had Keith Carne, who looks like he isn?t going anywhere.
Their first album, ?With Love & Squalor,? was certified gold in the
U.K. and enjoyed by dance rock fans in many other countries.
Subsequent records like ?Brain Thrust Mastery,? ?TV en Fran?ais,?
and ?Megaplex? saw the incorporation of more synthesizers, strings,
and a horn. Although 2021?s ?Huffy? returned to a guitar-driven
sound, forthcoming ?Lobes,? the band?s eighth studio album, is their
synthiest, electronic beatiest collection yet. So, really, who even is
We Are Scientists?
The release of ?Lobes? on January 20, 2023 was celebrated with a
very special hometown show at Brooklyn Made, followed by touring
in the U.K. and Europe. The band is currently on a run of European
shows and festivals this summer. Further US dates follow in the fall.

I ?? this band. I love the lame jokes, Keith getting drunk and feeding the audience a pack of lies, and melodic surf rock with a punk twist. I think that they should have been on the bill for Coachella this year, seeing as they have a new album out, but their small but devoted following may not propel them to the big stage. In order for that to happen, they're going to have to take themselves a bit more seriously. I will totally come out to see We Are Scientists anytime they're within driving distance. Hopefully at a better venue next time.
This show was very high energy and the venue at the Brighton Music Hall was perfect for the set that they played. The band members had a very engaging banter that ran throughout the show and they were gracious enough to take fan requests for a few songs in the middle. Band members also were around after the show to sell merch and sign stuff, they were really nice guys.
Amazing show, will be seeing them on their next tour for sure!
The performance was absolutely incredible. The quips between songs of the band members were completely hilarious. The venue was incredibly intimate in the Basement and really fun. I would definitely recommend to others. I'm going to try to go see them again while they're still in the States.
Pure awesomeness! I've seen this band multiple times in extremely different venues over the past 7 + years and they never disappoint. See this band live!!
Two words: Amazing show! Why? They had an awesome setlist. They strategically combined their 3 albums into one sweaty dancing frenzy. When you're not dancing, you are being thoroughly entertained by their humorous banter and audience interaction between songs. I loved it. Can't wait to see them again.
we were really looking forward to this gig as we've seen them a few times before and their music is really good, to top ot if they're such funny guys. they didn't dissappoint, and it was great to see them in a smaller venue. we even ended up chatting to them at the end of the gig and i must say they're not just funny but they're also very nice and down to earth...good fun, couldn't have asked for a better nye party.
We Are Scientists put on an excellent show. From their scientific banter to their crowd pleasing set list, I would happily go to see them again. However, the opening acts were not very good. I do not know if this was a WAS choice or a venue choice, but I was not impressed.
This was the best show I saw in 2010, and I'm so glad that it was also the first show of 2011. The band put on an awesome performance. The crowd was small and super into the music, and the band had a great time. I can't wait to see We Are Scientists play again. I'm hooked.
