University of Kansas Jayhawks Women’s Basketball History

The University of Kansas Jayhawks fielded their first varsity women’s basketball team for the 1968–69 season and became members of the former Big 8 Conference in 1982. The Jayhawks’ longest tenured head coach was Marian Washington, who led the team from 1973 to 2004 and retired with six conference tournament championships and four regular season conference titles. Kansas has appeared in the NCAA National Championship tournament 14 times, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in 1996, 1998, 2012 and 2013. Coach Brandon Schneider joined in 2015 and guided the Jayhawks’ to their first Women’s March Madness berth in nearly a decade in 2022.?
