Underoath has been a seminal voice in progressive, heavy rock for almost two decades. When you look at the long list of bands that would be considered their contemporaries, very few can match Underoath when it comes to consistently pushing the envelope or the ability to evolve creatively without losing sight of what made them such a special band in the first place. This far into their storied career, the band has unsurprisingly faced their fair share of adversity. But through the trials and tribulations, a commitment to their craft and a sense of accountability rooted in mutual respect for each other has ensured that each new chapter for Underoath continues to shape their legacy in a positive fashion.
?
In 2020, as a global pandemic shook the foundation of the music industry, Underoath once again blazed a new path forward with their critically-acclaimed Observatory livestream. As interest in the digital consumption of live music seemed to be waning, the band breathed new life into the realm with a complete overhaul of the process – creating something equal parts intimate and monumental. It carried the weight of a sold out arena show translated through vessels consumable in fan’s living rooms. What made it all the more impactful was the fact that the entire initiative was dreamt up and brought to fruition largely by the band’s internal team. Thus, providing another shining reminder of the innovation that the six members on Underoath are capable of pulling together.
?
On the band’s 2018 Fearless Records debut, Erase Me, we saw a new side of Underoath. Having already established themselves both as melodic songwriters (2004’s RIAA-Certified Gold record They’re Only Chasing Safety) and as ambitious power merchants (2006’s gold-selling Define The Great Line and the majestic follow-up Lost In The Sound of Separation in 2008), the evolution detailed on Erase Me found Underoath using meticulously crafted sonic dialects that painted a vivid picture of how the band had grown artistically in the long layoff since their previous record.
?
With their shared history of remarkable accolades and trying hardships continuing to shape who the individual members are as people, Underoath is still just scratching the surface of what they can accomplish as a band. There are few acts in the annals of rock history that can say their best work is still ahead of them almost two decades into their career. Fortunately, Underoath falls into that category. As the world opens back up in 2021, the band is deeply committed to living up to the high expectations that fans (and themselves) have come to expect for anything associated with the project. It will undoubtedly be something special to witness as this next chapter in the Underoath story manifests.
The entire night was an emotional experience one I don’t think I could ever replicate. St.Louis has to be the best night of the tour in total.
Hands down one of the best shows I’ve been too. They sounded amazing! They were very energetic and the lighting was fantastic. Can’t wait to see them again on their next tour!
UnderOath put on a phenomenal performance. The intro with Aaron on the couch was icing on the cake!
Hearing an album live that I still regularly listen too was great. There was still a good amount of production that went into a smaller venue as well and being so close to the band was way better than big arena-style shows. The band did not disappoint!
Underoath was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing, great show, 10/10 would mosh again.
The Underoath 20th anniversary of They're only chasing safety album tour was awesome. They put on an amazing show ay the Oakdale theater. It was like I was seeing them for thr first time all over again!
My tickets said that doors were at 7:50. Implying that's when the show started. Only to find out one band already played, and one of the others was halfway through their set.
This is non biased, as this is not my scene exactly..lil heavier than my preference but i had an awesome time. They sounded phenomenal, vocals & instruments as well as a ROARING crowd chant..quite angelic. NO push pit but we had a mosh the entire time, hands n footwear all in the air but nobody crowd killing or intentionally hurting one another, very mindful. I stayed IN for the duration since i couldn't sing along..so even without knowing the songs but coming with an appreciation, you have a place there. My 50+ interactions with ppl there told that Underoath has an awesome community. 1 thing i have to note, i had felt bad cuz, if you by chance came jus for the music..the crowd wave was CRUSHING everyone who was from the mid to the front..it was very physical and i saw a few very unhappy faces..and im in the middle cuz, you know , i know where im at..some may feel "theres a time and place for that, not here"n the best we can do is TRY and give space but then you see them completely smashed into ppl moments later ?????♂?while we are CELEBRATING these bands, i dont think we can nor should contain outselves.
underoath literally is the best experiences ive had in multiple concerts seeing them..... i miss warpedtour days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Underoath was absolutely amazing! The show was a great time. Great venue. 10/10
…I was worried the show would have been a miss due to the hurricane Hillary derailment of the original location. I was surprised to see the show would happen twice in one day. I went concerned but was quite surprised by the energy of the performers. I hope they were well compensated for the double act! I was absolutely impressed that there were no hiccups or technical difficulties, none at least that we had noticed. Regardless, I felt like I traveled to the past and present with some old hits from high school, to the new releases of UO’s latest album. At one point, I almost got swallowed up in a mosh pit but I was able to make a clear exit. I had beer spilled all over me but it was an accident and made my experience that much more metal, and for that I am grateful. Even the fans were all respectful and there to rock out. I would totally be on board with going to the next concert for UO and The Ghost Inside!
Underoath never fails to put on an amazing show. This was my second time seeing them this year! I was so grateful for the professionalism and the effort these guys put into doing two shows in one day to accommodate for the hurricane. Couldn’t be happier! The venue did seem a bit small but we rocked out and had such a great time. I <3 U?!!!
These guys were ready to play both shows and it showed. They came ready.
They still put on a show despite the venue having cancelled
Show was moved due to hurricane, was bumbed at 1st but show was fantastic. All bands outdid themselves. HOB is one the best venues out there.
Amazing show, I'm still sore! We generally stand in or around the pit at these shows as we feel we get the best experience. Got a couple surfers over the barrier. The music was great. Always love seeing Roman's. The Ghost inside was a first for me and they crushed it. Underoath made my day. Such a great stage performance!
I have seen Underoath numerous times throughout the years since becoming a fan in 2004 and even after all these years they have never let me down. One of the greatest band known to man continues to rock the stage time after time and if you have never seen them play then make sure to meet them at the stage. You will NOT be disappointed!!!
I have loved Underoath for a long time and this was my first opportunity to see them live and they did not disappoint at all!!! They played a good mix of new and old songs. The crowd gets so wild for the hits and we had so much fun at this show. Would definitely love to see them again!
Ugly crying in a crowd of people never felt so good
So there was moshing of course so be prepared for that. I got hit in the back twice and nearly started a fight. Band was really good and the energy in the venue was u believable.
