They say fashion is cyclical... and they’re right. Truly amazing things never go out of style, regardless of when they first popped up. Toto’s tune ‘Africa’ is one of these things. First heard in 1982, this masterpiece of popular prog has been a staple of pop culture since release. Taken from their massive second album Toto IV, it combined their other calling card Rosanna to introduce Toto to a massive audience. That record would go on to win several Grammy Awards and establish a base from which the band grew into one of the most prolific and durable acts in modern music history. Musically mind blowing and with more hits that you can poke a stick at, there’s no doubt that people will ask “where were you when Toto played Festival Hall?” for years to come.
I love the band so much, and their music combined with the concert experience was truly unforgettable.
My first thought was maybe I had waited too long with all of the new musicians that Steve had chosen to be Toto, I wondered if the magic would still be there. I quit doubting the second they hit the stage and enjoyed every song. I must say that until you hear and see AFRICA live, you cannot imagine just how magical that song is. This was an amazing event, and Cool Hand Luke improved my day, just like I knew he would.
Great to hear the familiar songs, but the sound mix was way off. Lead guitar and base drowned out some vocals and sax. The lead guitar especially didn't let the sax sound come through at all. The band in general needed a good mixer on the sound system.
Was expecting a good concert just from the playlist we saw earlier in the day. Only a change or two. But that wasn't a problem. None of it was. We got so much more from Toto than expected. The musicianship of the instrumentalists was absolutely fantastic. But their Harmonies were so solid and without Auto tune or messing additional coverings by backup singers. Joe Lukehart and friends just ripped it up!!!! It was top 5 concert. I've seen Prince, The Grateful Dead, The Who the Stones, Chicago the Doobie Brothers you name it. This was in my Top 5 of all time. No question!!!!
ticket purchase to ticket deivery was great and easy. Ovens for the show is the Best. The parking is free and well directed. There is not a bad seat in Ovens. Toto was above expectations and loved the show. Would definitely see Toto again in future years to come. I always take opportunity to see a show at Ovens !
I have literally been a Toto since their very first album! This group of amazing musicians always put on a fantastic musical event. AND they're all playing LIVE! No extra backing tracks or any silly stuff. Just fantastic musicianship and showmanship! I have seen Toto in nearly every iteration of the band. I first saw them after they released Hydra. I have seen them in large arenas and smaller venues like Ovens Auditorium. Seriously, every time that I see them it's special. I prefer the Evening with Toto performances because they are not limited to a one hour set. They are able to interact with the audience more and it's like we are seeing them in a small club! It's simply phenomenal! I will make every effort to see them as long as they are touring! Cheers!
I’m a big Toto fan. This was my 5th time seeing them. Really enjoyed this set. Sounded amazing as always. I really like how they take a few minutes and talk about some of the songs that they have played on. Go see them. They always sound great.
I was thrilled to see Toto in concert. I remember this band from my jr high days! Such good memories and these guys still got it! Loved it!!!
