by jwale73 on 3/13/14The Sinclair - CambridgeGreat show at an intimate venue. My only disappointment was that they did not play 'Not Too Soon.' Nonetheless, these guys still put on a great show.
Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 3/12/14Bowery Ballroom - New York Stage banter was top notch, but I honestly didn't know enough of the material to really rock out.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Amazing show!!
by VitaminV on 3/11/14The Sinclair - CambridgeKristin is the type of woman that you just want to slay dragons with. Youth has absolutely nothing on these people....they still rock!!! Tanya was FIRE on her opening set. Ten thumbs up!!!
Rating: 2 out of 5 Bowery Ballroom needs to check their sound
by Strangel on 3/11/14Bowery Ballroom - New YorkSadly, I think that may be my last Throwing Muses show. The sound was off, the energy was off, Tanya seemed unrehearsed and TM seemed incohesive (so what if that's not a word? you know what i mean)
Rating: 5 out of 5 Throwing Muses Return
by Joesmoltz on 3/10/14The Sinclair - CambridgeThrowing Muses, Boston's (by way of Rhode Island) best band ever (sorry Bad Boys), returned for a stunning show at the Sinclair in Harvard Square this past Friday night. Always a treat to see the Muses perform, this show was a must see due to the presence of Tanya Donelly who opened the show and then joined Kristin, Bernie & Dave for part of the Muses' set. Tanya sounded lovely as always, cooing through solo tunes old and new as well as former band Belly's Low Red Moon & Slow Dog. She even threw in a Muses song she wrote, Honeychain, to the crowd's delight. The night became even more Boston-centric when Chris Toppin of Fuzzy joined Tanya for Slow Dog and Bill Janovitz of Buffalo Tom joined Tanya for This Hungry Life and Salt. Throwing Muses took the stage and launched into a powerhouse set of material from their new CD Purgatory/Paradise. New songs Lazy Eye, Slippershell, Freesia, Sunray Venus all sounded tremendous live, with Kristin's vocals going gloriously from a whisper to a roar and back again. The new cd is lengthy at 32 songs, but for die-hard Muses fans it's a must-have masterpiece. Tanya then joined the band for a jaunt through the band's past. Red Shoes and Say Goodbye were hauntingly beautiful, while Devil's Roof took the night to a higher level with Kristin & Tanya becoming one voice ("For instance, where's my husband"), which they then proceeded to outdo somehow with the glorious harmonies of Flying. Hearing Kristin & Tanya together again brought me back to the Paradise in the late 1980's. The Muses returned for encores of Snakeface, Shark & Bright Yellow Gun to finish off an already amazing evening. Hopefully it won't be several years before they come back again.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Simply Wonderful!
by WhinyMcGee on 3/10/14The Sinclair - CambridgeWhile I'm sure there will be some grumbling because they didn't play the "hits", the Throwing Muses show was everything I had hoped it would be. Great energy and sound.

by Gman89 on 10/19/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORKGreat show matched by the quality of the venue. Shame I brought a friend who was not into the band so ended up having to leave before the set finished. Heh Ho. Worth checking out if you are into the Muses
Rating: 5 out of 5 AMAZING BAND / AMAZING SHOW
by nickynamie on 10/18/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORKI have never missed a NYC Muses show. This was the best I've seen in years. The band is in top shape, the songs have never sounded better. Anyone who whines about Tanya not being in the band, or that this isn't the "real" Muses doesn't know what they're talking about. New songs are great, old songs sound fresh. Such a good band.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Thedalilami on 10/18/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK As always Kristin and her Muses put on an intense show! Not to be missed!
