I am back for year 3 of attending these shows. It’s such a lovely time, a beautiful vibe , and so many beautiful people! I always enjoy coming and having a time! Tea is always hot too
This show/experience was basically a live version of the The Read podcast. At times it felt like it required a lot of familiarity with the topics, so you would have to be knowledgeable about current topics in pop culture to fully appreciate it. Because this was a live show, I was expecting some visual aids, like projected photos, video clips or just anything that would make the experience feel more interactive and to provide context for people who may not be familiar with a particular topic. But they didn't have that, so you really had to pay attention and listen closely. The vibe was very low-energy and I felt like I paid $60 to listen to the podcast, which was still entertaining because Crissle and Kid Fury are very funny. I think it would be cool if they made it more like a SHOW show and included more audience participation with maybe a trivia game or something to make the experience more unique. Or maybe if they brought out a surprise guest, like Issa Rae, for example. I really liked the music they played before Crissle and Kid Fury came out. That part was probably the highest energy. Overall, it was decent and got me to leave the house.
I’ve been listening to the read for so many yrs and gone to their live show’s yr after yr and they get better and better every time.
It’s been a while since The Read has been able to do a live show & it was well worth the wait – especially for the 10th anniversary. This podcast has shown up for its listeners week after week for so long & we’re so grateful for the ?Black Excellence? that Kid Fury & Crissle have given us. Receive your flowers, beloveds, because you deserve! ??????

Crissle and Kid Fury gave the performance that we are used to from their podcast. It was hilarious. I was happy to be there for their 10 year anniversary. I am glad that they received their flowers and heard how much they are appreciated and the impact that they have on people’s lives.
I had a great time at the show and the service was great. Doors opened promptly, Kid Fury and Crissle were amazing live! It was my first time at a live show and at the Beacon Theatre, I really enjoyed the space.
I came all the way from NC to NY for this show. My best friend since 7th grade introduced me to the podcast years ago and I’ve been a super fan ever since. It was so special to attend the show with her and other friends. I feel like I know Crissle and Fury personally since we’ve all been along for this ride with them to the TOP! I wish them nothing but continued blessings and success. Thank you for sharing your lives/ talents with us <3
