The Black Crowes are leaving the bullshit in the past. 15 years after their last album of original music, the Robinson Brothers present Happiness Bastards - their 10th studio album. Some may say the project has been several tumultuous years in the making, but we argue it's arriving at just the right time. Call it brotherly love or music destiny that brought them back together, the highly anticipated record consecrating the reunion of this legendary band just may be the thing that saves rock & roll. In a time where the art form is buried beneath the corporate sheen of its successors, The Black Crowes are biting back with the angst of words left unsaid penned on paper and electrified by guitar strings, revealing stripped, bare-boned rock & roll. No gloss, no glitter, just rhythm and blues at it's very best - gritty, loud, and in your face.
Since The Black Crowes reunited in 2019, they've made a triumphant return to form with over 150 shows spanning 20 countries worldwide, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker, the album that put them on the map. Upon their return from the road, they knew they needed something new to show for their lost time. The Robinson Brothers and longtime bassist Sven Pipien headed to the studio with producer Jay Joyce in early 2023 and the experiences of years past transcribed themself through the music as the band found their way back to their roots. And it's finally here - Happiness Bastards is out March 15, 2024.
The Crowes never disappoint. Another great set by a great band!
If I could return a concert I would! This was a bucket list concert for us and it was the hugest disappointment! The sound was so terrible, you could not hear a word. The one song I was so looking forward to hearing live, ugh! They slowed it down and sang it all weird. We left as soon as it was over, before any encores. We only stayed because it was not only us, but we had family with us...who also stated after how bad the sound was. What a waste for what we paid for tickets.
The Hard Rock Lawn venue is hard to beat. Unfortunately, the weather drizzled rain for much of the show. The rain did not dampen the spirits of the audience. After a blistering opening set by Florida based power trio Fortune Child, the stage was quickly set up for the main act. From the opening song to the encore, The Black Crowes delivered a beautiful set of hits and newer tunes (from current release "Happiness Bastards"). The musicianship was over the top phenomenal, and Chris Robinson belted out a seemingly endless stream of songs. By show's end, we were nearly exhausted and very very happy!
The Robinson brothers have not lost a step! Saw them open for Aerosmith at Blossom in the 90s and hooked. Chris’s voice is great along with his style. Rich was his usual quiet self making his guitar sing. Band was great. The audience was electric when they did their 90s hits. MGM needs better sound system.
After 30+ years The Black Crowes still deliver the goods as one of the top live bands currently on the road. The 2024 tour features songs from their first new album in a long time and shorter, more concise songs overall. Although there wasn't as much jamming as past tours, the quick fire delivery kept the pace of the show moving nicely.
The sound at this venue is terrible. It’s been 3 years since my last concert at the MGM Northfield location in Ohio. At that time I said I’d never go back. Thought that by now, the venue would have completed some improvements. Even Chris Robinson said “ it’s like being in a big black box” He also compared the venue to a coffin. I believe a coffin would have better sound quality. Come on MGM, Cleveland fans are the best and deserve excellent sound and certainly the artists do too!!
I have seen the Black Crowes at least 20 times over the past 30 years. I am amazed at how they are still at the top of there game. Rich is the consummate professional. It was a joy to see him play up close and personal. He is a wonderful band leader and makes it look effortless. He is one of my all time favorite guitarist, and very underrated. Chris is still one of the best rock and roll front men on the planet. His singing was on point and he still has great energy and showmanship. While the of the rest of the band has changed many times over the years, the current lineup was on point and made the songs sound like you were listening to them as originally recorded. It was a rainy dreary night outdoors, but the band did not disappoint and made very worthwhile to be there.
Black Crowes showed up and destroyed! Amazing show!
I have waiting way too long to see them. I have loved them for years. Awesome concert and I was throughly entertained. Thanks.
The Black Crowes were better than expected given the rain. This being the 5 th time attending one of their shows, this venue was amazing and the band’s energy was contagious!! Would be happy to see them again and at this venue
