Texas Rangers History
The Texas Rangers began as the Washington Senators and moved to Arlington, Texas ahead of the 1972 season. Despite missing the postseason over their first two decades, the Rangers fielded talented players and future Hall of Famers such as Ferguson Jenkins, Gaylord Perry, Nolan Ryan, Harold Baines and Iván RodrÃguez. The team made its first postseason run in 1996 after securing the AL West division title, but fell short in the first round and met similar fates in 1998 and 1999. The Rangers claimed their first AL Pennant in 2010, then earned another in 2011, but lost in the World Series both years. After qualifying for a Wild Card berth in 2023, the Rangers led an unlikely march to the World Series and secured their first championship in a 4-1 series victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Shortstop Corey Seager was awarded the World Series MVP.
The Rangers have hosted 10 Hall of Fame inductees, including third baseman Adrián Beltré, who was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2024, his first year of eligibility. The team has also featured 15 Gold Glove winners and five American League MVPs, such as left fielder Jeff Burroughs, two-time recipient Juan González and shortstop Alex Rodriguez. The team has been led by three Manager of the Year winners and has drafted two Rookie of the Year selections.?

Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field
The Texas Rangers moved to Globe Life Field in 2020. Located across the street from their previous occupancy at the now-Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the Rangers put their stamp on the new home field with the city’s first MLB championship in 2023. The modern, $1.1 billion ballpark features a retractable roof to manage the temperatures of a typical Texas summer, and center field now faces northeast instead of southeast. The 40,300-seat stadium held all six games of the 2020 World Series as a neutral site due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic and hosted a second time for the Rangers’ successful championship run in 2023. Globe Life Field will host the 2024 MLB All-Star Game.
