Unlike other '80s metal bands, Testament’s fan base hasn't diminished with the accumulation of years. In fact, when Testament dropped "Dark Roots of Earth" in 2012, the disc entered the Billboard 200 at No. 12, the highest chart position the band has seen in its career. As every ticket holder in the metal underground knows, Testament concerts are built on furious riffs and aggressive harmonies. In fact, Testament became known for their virtuosic control and melodic crunch, an approach to thrash metal that set them apart from their contemporaries, many of whom just wanted to play as fast and as loud as possible on tour. Whether Testament is playing new material in concert or classics from the '80s, be prepared for pyrotechnics, headbanging, moshing and a stage set that looks like the lurid artwork from one of their famous album covers.
The 1980s are considered the heyday of American thrash metal, and the Bay Area was a hotbed for bands that liked their riffs hard and their solos fast. No ardent fan or music critic would dispute that. Many metal bands that exploded onto the scene in the '80s and rode the wave of MTV exposure, being featured on the music network’s legendary "Headbanger’s Ball" program, fell into obscurity when '90s grunge became popular, but Testament continued to battle on. Testament's first three albums, which include "The Legacy" (1987), "The New Order (1988)" and "Practice What You Preach" (1989), are the bands most popular, beloved by metal heads around the globe. In a 30-year career that has featured 10 studio albums, four live albums, six compilations and 1.4 million records sold in the U.S., Testament continue to play fast and hard, touring all over the world with bands like Judas Priest, Anthrax, Megadeth, Exodus and Lamb of God.?
Great show. Only bad thing was that they did not play Disciples of the Watch
Was to be my 1st time at the van buren, was unable to attend the show.so I can't give a review of the venue
Testament is one of those bands that's as good if not better live than on tape! Their energy is amazing, their music is awesome and I hope to see them every time they come to town. First time at the Van Buren and we really liked the venue. Will definitely go to more shows there.
The place was. Nice. Sound needed some help the room had echoes. Stage was up high enough for all to see. Good venue
OMG Testament was Awesome. Kreator & Possessed fit the bill. It was an amazing show. ????
Possessed was perfect band to start up, get everyone fired . Kreator came out and destroyed like they were the headliners. Never really listened to them but I am a fan now. Testament kept the energy going and is always good time. Would definitely recommend this lineup and would most definitely see all these bands again. ????
Old school metal that will never die.... An awesome show for the ages... Took my son to see what I've been listen to forever since I first discovered metal... A new generation of fans to follow... Awesome
Great performance and setup... Appreciate the three separate lines for merchandise from each band decent prices, excellent items to choose from and availability on sizes... Great job to event staff and hospitality... Awesome the Mayor of ABQ made an appearance ????...
Wonderful show, I had a great time. I would recommend the show with these two classic metal bands.
The Fillmore is too big (and corporate) for this type of event. And, WAY too expensive. Drinks are ridiculous here. I hate going to shows at The Fillmore.
I like to attend concerts at the White Oak Music Center. The venue is small but great for this type of events. I had a blast.
This was a great night! The venue was great, everyone was super nice and the bands were amazing, this was one of the best shows I've seen Testament give, I'm really glad I was there. Kreator and Possessed were amazing as well!
I took the wifey & kiddo. Testament should have opened for Kreator, just saying. My wife is not a fan of hardcore metal. But she was so blown away by Kreator's amazing performance that she is now a big fan!
For a headliner, Testament way underperformed. The setup on stage was minimal with almost no fan interaction. The singer spent half his time at the back of the stage playing air guitar. It was a real disappointment. Kreator on the other hand killed it. I honestly hadn’t seen or heard of them until I saw the concert announcement. These guys absolutely rocked. Great stage show. Awesome interaction. They sounded great. And they got the crowd going. I’ll be looking for theme to come around again.
Fantastic show amazing energy openers were pure savage. We had crowd surfing walls of death and circle pits galore. I wish Testament played some of their other hits but there are simply too many
They're super tight live. Incredible sound mix, I could hear everything properly.
Amazing! Great organization and was wonderful! All the accessibility and the process was great, not a single issue to scan and get in the show! Thanks a lot!
Waited 35 years to see Testament! Happy I finally got to see them!
Very Heavy show! I see TESTAMENT every time they come to Orlando! Kreator and Possessed Tore it up too all 3 had Killer stage set ups. 2 ???? for all 3 bands
