Tennessee Volunteers Men’s Basketball History
The University of Tennessee men's basketball regularly makes noise in the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament, with some recent deep runs to their credit. Their marquee run came in 2010, when they made it all the way to the Elite Eight before falling to Michigan State in a one-point loss.
The Volunteers currently are coached by former longtime University of Texas head coach Rick Barnes, who took the job in Knoxville in 2015. After a rocky start, Barnes guided them to the NCAA Tournament in 2018, where they won a game before being bounced in the round of 32.?
The most successful NCAA tournament era for the Volunteers came in the ‘00s, when they made three straight tournaments (2006-2008) under Bruce Pearl, with both 2007 and 2008 ending with losses in the Sweet 16. Tennessee has sent luminaries to the pros, like Dale Ellis, Allan Houston, C.J. Watson, and the legendary Bernard King, who joined the New York Knicks in the ‘80s.

Great environment, the vols absolutely crushed Missouri. The seats are very small and cramped.
I didn't attend. I couldn't find a parking spot for less than $25 at 1 PM on a Sunday afternoon, so I drove home. Granted, the ticket was cheap, but no longer so when $25 was the parking fee. So the $25+ I would have spent additionally on arena concessions was lost revenue.
We were in the 317 section and was not prepared to climb such steep steps but that was minor compared to the wonderful time we had. The stadium is beautiful
It was a fantastic matchup of Top 10 teams in a facility that was a perfect fit.
Absolutely loved everything! Was great that parking garage was attached since it was rainy. It was awesome being so close to the game and getting to take pictures with the players afterward. Certainly didn’t hurt the fun that my team won!
Seating was great, Vols played a fantastic game and they should for the season. Flew in from Georgia and it couldn’t have been better!!!
Both teams played great. Announcer was awesome, made the arena feel fuller than it was.
Had fun at this game. Everyone was very courteous.
We got Lexus lounge tickets and it was very much worth it. Great food, great service and great time.
The young Tennessee Vols Men's Basketball Team showed fans their athletic ability and hustle as they worked hard to contain Gonzaga's 7 footers!
The game was great! Bridgestone is a beautiful venue and they have really improved their concessions and the appearances therein. The entertainment during time-out's was lots of fun too! It was a great day out for our family.
