Tape Face Live
With his electric-shock hairstyle, striped shirt and strip of black tape across his mouth, the performer known as Tape Face can't help but leave an impression on audiences. Yet what makes this modern-day master of mime and comedy truly remarkable is the wonder, whimsy and weirdness that fill his one-of-a-kind performances.
Tape Face's appearances on America's Got Talent in 2016 introduced wider audiences to this New Zealand talent. Tape Face is the creation of Sam Wills, who began his performing career as an aspiring clown while a teenager. Drawing from his love of circus, vaudeville and prop comedy, he developed a character that took the art of mime in bold new directions. A hit at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2008, Wills' show The Boy with Tape on His Face marked the first major success for the stage persona that he'd later present at such events as the BBC Comedy Prom at London's Royal Albert Hall.
Shortening his name to Tape Face, Wills became one of the standout performers on season 11 of America's Got Talent, advancing to the finals without ever speaking a word. The viral success of his performances led to his first headlining appearances on the Las Vegas Strip. After two hit limited engagements, he began a multiyear residency at Harrah's Las Vegas in 2018. Visitors to the specially built House of Tape will discover a show like nothing else on the Strip.
Tape Face Background
A modern-day master of mime and comedy, Tape Face is the silent stage alter ego of New Zealand's Sam Wills. Wills' signature creation began in his youth in the town of Timaru, where he studied the art of clowning and other performance traditions. After moving to the Christchurch area and establishing himself in New Zealand's comedy scene, he combined elements of circus performing, vaudeville, and prop and shock comedy to create his unique brand of entertainment.
In 2008, Wills introduced Australian audiences to the instantly indelible title character of The Boy with Tape on His Face, a show that became a breakout at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. He also gained fans in the U.K. when he performed the character on TV shows and at live events such as the BBC Comedy Prom in London's Royal Albert Hall and the iconic Royal Variety Performance.
Tape Face's hilarious routines and feats on season 11 of America's Got Talent made Wills' creation a viral phenomenon and an international sensation. On the heels of his AGT performances and his live and TV appearances in many countries, Wills came to Las Vegas for two hit engagements at Harrah's Las Vegas in 2017. The following year, he began his residency at the specially built House of Tape.

If you want laughs, this is the show to see!! He is funny, so are his side kicks! Go see it!
I laughed so hard my face hurt. I knew a few of the skits from AGT and when Tape Face did the first couple movements I knew what it was and started laughing. Brilliant!!!!!!
This show is HILARIOUS!!! Must see show for Vegas. Beginning to end. Must give a shout out to Phyllis ! Shes a bonus side show!!
Great venue, small intimate audience. I would recommend getting booth seats. We sat in the first row of booths and it was the perfect spot. Family friendly, we took our kids, 5 and 7 year olds, and they loved it. Nonstop laughs and we got our picture taken with Tape Face after the show, for free! Merchandise was surprisingly affordable. Theater staff was very friendly. All around a great experience.
Creative! Spontaneous! Unique! Innovative! Communication w/o speaking, genius! Loved the Tape Fave character! Loved the overtly sexy M/C! Great show! - for those with a sense of humor!
There was a female "Urkel" type of character throughout the show that didn't make a lot of sense or very funny. The best parts of the show were repeats of his America's Got Talent performances. The seating chart showed the booth seats we purchased to be next to the stage. We wanted to be close as he is a visual comedian and we wanted to see him clearly. The booth was actually about 12 rows from the stage. It was also over $120 per seat and was not worth that amount of money.
Tape Face was great. There's a lot of audience participation and he included the material from AGT that we enjoyed and remembered.
Tape Face is easily the most enjoyable show I have ever seen in Las Vegas! The act is light, hilarious, beyond silly, and just great fun for the whole family. If you love to laugh, you will love this show!
I watched all of his acts during AGT. He pretty much had no new material. It wasn’t so funny the second time. Also, he should get rid of the two people on stage with him. So amateurish and not necessary. Quite annoying actually.
Sam greeted his audience with no tape over his mouth when entering the showroom. This is his meet and greet for all 50 attendees that are allow due to NV covid guidelines. Sam was engaging and funny preshow. The overall show was good, you will see some of the acts he performed on AGT and some new ones. His supporting cast are ok, their acting is novice at best. They seem like fillers in helping the show last as long as it did. I think this type of show needs to have a very engaging audience and most of the people we were with had no energy and kind of killed the vibe in the room. Just go, have fun, don't take it too seriously and you will have a good time.
This was the best show we attended in Las Vegas! The Venue is small so there is not a bad seat in the house. MANY of the audience members were picked to go up on stage and be part of the show. This show is a must see #tapeface
Audience participation and Tape Face all together makes for a good time.
This show is a must see show, from the opening acts to Tape Face you will be entertained. Audience members are selected to participate in acts.
I have been a fan of Tape Face since his audition on AGT and flew out specifically for his show. To my surprise, two other actors performed as Tape Face and not the original. The other actors were great and the show was awesome, but I was disappointed that I didn't get to see the original Tape Face, Sam Wills. All the show media that I saw features Sam, so I feel like that should be updated to include the other guys or list on the ticket sales who will be performing.
From the minute Tapeface was on stage it was nothing but laughs! An interactive show with the audience. Highly recommend!!!
My first encounter with “the Boy with Tape on his Face” was on the street (outside Surtout) in Christchurch, when I overheard him say (yes, he spoke) that the Adelaide Fringe Festival was his favourite little gig at that time. This was handy news, as I was living in Adelaide. Local Press coverage at that time confirmed that his was a show to be sure to see. And we did, the whole family, both that year and the next. We were mesmerised, and could not recommend his show highly enough. We have lived in hope that he would return to the Adelaide Fringe Festival, but we’ve not been so lucky. The Fringe has continued to grow (more of a whole haircut now), and there are more and more wonderful performers coming every year, but none have surpassed “The Boy with Tape”, and “More Tape”. Lucky Las Vegas - you won’t be sorry if you make time to see this most professional and entertaining performer.
Love the intimate venue and audience participation! My husband was the target of an ongoing joke and it was perfect!
This is the most fun my husband and I had in Vegas during our trip, and we saw 3 shows. The show is so unique and entertaining. We won’t go back to Vegas without stopping at the House of Tape ever again!! 12 stars if I could!!
Hillarious! Audience participation keeps things hopping. Recommend it for good, clean entertainment. It was a packed house.
