Tape Face Live
With his electric-shock hairstyle, striped shirt and strip of black tape across his mouth, the performer known as Tape Face can't help but leave an impression on audiences. Yet what makes this modern-day master of mime and comedy truly remarkable is the wonder, whimsy and weirdness that fill his one-of-a-kind performances.
Tape Face's appearances on America's Got Talent in 2016 introduced wider audiences to this New Zealand talent. Tape Face is the creation of Sam Wills, who began his performing career as an aspiring clown while a teenager. Drawing from his love of circus, vaudeville and prop comedy, he developed a character that took the art of mime in bold new directions. A hit at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2008, Wills' show The Boy with Tape on His Face marked the first major success for the stage persona that he'd later present at such events as the BBC Comedy Prom at London's Royal Albert Hall.
Shortening his name to Tape Face, Wills became one of the standout performers on season 11 of America's Got Talent, advancing to the finals without ever speaking a word. The viral success of his performances led to his first headlining appearances on the Las Vegas Strip. After two hit limited engagements, he began a multiyear residency at Harrah's Las Vegas in 2018. Visitors to the specially built House of Tape will discover a show like nothing else on the Strip.
Tape Face Background
A modern-day master of mime and comedy, Tape Face is the silent stage alter ego of New Zealand's Sam Wills. Wills' signature creation began in his youth in the town of Timaru, where he studied the art of clowning and other performance traditions. After moving to the Christchurch area and establishing himself in New Zealand's comedy scene, he combined elements of circus performing, vaudeville, and prop and shock comedy to create his unique brand of entertainment.
In 2008, Wills introduced Australian audiences to the instantly indelible title character of The Boy with Tape on His Face, a show that became a breakout at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. He also gained fans in the U.K. when he performed the character on TV shows and at live events such as the BBC Comedy Prom in London's Royal Albert Hall and the iconic Royal Variety Performance.
Tape Face's hilarious routines and feats on season 11 of America's Got Talent made Wills' creation a viral phenomenon and an international sensation. On the heels of his AGT performances and his live and TV appearances in many countries, Wills came to Las Vegas for two hit engagements at Harrah's Las Vegas in 2017. The following year, he began his residency at the specially built House of Tape.
This show was hilarious! I would definitely recommend going. If I get the chance I will go see it again!
Audience participants made it so fun and added to the night
Second time seeing Tape Face, and I've got to tell you this time was even better than the first,, and the first was great. This show is audience inter active and many get involved. The routines he did were so funny, that I laughed so hard and long that I started to cry, it was that funny. Everyone who was picked to come on stage were great participates and just made the show so funny and Tape Face was quick to react with his humor when they did something wrong. The show was appropriate for all ages and well worth the money paid for the ticket. Next time in Las Vegas I will say Tape Face again.
I took my 18 year old daughters to see TapeFace as part of a VERY show-intensive birthday weekend. We all felt it was the best show we saw. It was highly interactive, inventive, and hysterical. If you have a chance to see TapeFace, TAKE IT... you will not be disappointed.
Form the beginning until the end of the show, you will laugh and laugh some more. The show is interactive with the audience, exciting, comical and overall one if the best.
Went on a sunday night, the audience was small but he was very funny. Picks people from the audience to come on stage. Very interactive show which i liked.
Intimate venue! Show was perfect! Super fun! I would go again tomorrow, even if it was the same routine. Different people, & different reactions. Tape face is a master communicator. His creativity is unbelievable & inspiring! Yaya
The show was highly entertaining. The venue was ok. The staff at the venue was not so great. I understand enforcing masks but seeing employees walk up to guests during the show telling them to put masks on while they are drinking was a bit much. The staff also kept talking to each other in the room during the show. Probably wouldn’t be as noticeable except tape face isn’t exactly a loud act.
This is an audience interactive show. You will laugh the whole time, Fun for the whole family
One of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen!!!! Made me cry laughing!!!!
The audience participation throughout the show was amazing! Stay Weird! I loved it!
The show is fun and funny, albeit lackluster. Some stuff feels forced, and repeating 2 bits from AGT is not cool. I was also disappointed at the absurdly small drink selection during the show. The thing was fairly affordable, so giving it a "passing" score. You can do better.
Tape Face is a great entertainer. His sidekick was funny as well. It’s amazing how he could be so funny without having to speak a word. I would highly recommend going to this show.
Great show and very entertaining! We never stopped laughing!
I finally had a chance to see the show, and I should have gone much sooner. THIS SHOW IS FUNNY! I was howling with laughter. Tape Face and Phyllis Vanillis are outstanding with their gifted humor. How one comes up with these hilarious ideas is beyond me. My personal opinion, GO watch and laugh. Forget about the problems in life for 90 minutes.
Tape Face is a genius at making hilarious comedy and fun with crazy props and audience participation. His Covid19 police sidekick Phyllis was also hilarious and the show continues to get better!! I loved the show more than last visit in 2019. A great evening of entertainment and affordable too!!!
This is a really funny, entertaining show. Tape Face is hilarious! Personally my favorite show of our trip.
Simple sketch comedy at its finest !! He has perfected his craft and it shows. We laughed the whole time !! Would recommend to anyone of any age. ??
This was really a great show! So funny from start to finish. Tons of audience participation. Went with my mother and grandmother, everyone had a good time. Couldn’t recommend more!
Tape Face is hilarious. We were laughing the entire time. Went to see other shows during our time there, and this was our favorite.
