This was a good tournament and the facility was beautiful and well maintained.
This was a basketball tournament and on that count the tournament was a success since the quality of play by all 8 teams participating was terrific. The facility itself, the Convention Center in Daytona Beach, is a fine venue for college basketball. There were, however, some areas of improvement for future tournaments in Florida (or elsewhere). Directions on the exterior of which entrance - among the multiple entrances - should be used was lacking. That exterior signage, as well as interior signage, was totally lacking. There was a lot of guess work on the part of spectators to get to the arena area itself. Once inside, the composition of each team was a mystery to any curious spectator since there were no roster/event programs available. The acoustics were fine; the choice of pre-game etc music over the PA system was at times offensive to several of the more senior spectators who found the language of some of the music inappropriate. In this day of covid guidelines it was surprising that the web page of the tournament contained no mention of covid regulations for spectators attending the tournament. All in all a good basketball experience; the event needs some positive tinkering for future tournaments.
Saw three exciting games on Saturday. Small crowd allowed us to sit wherever we wanted…so every half we moved to a different place. Different views made it a lot of fun. Ocean Center is in good shape. Nearby hotels very reasonably priced. Beach is right there along with plenty of food choices.
