Indie rock band Slow Pulp is known for blending lo-fi psychedelia with shimmering pop/rock. The Wisconsin-bred, Chicago-based quartet was named Stereogum's "Band to Watch" in May 2019 following the release of three buzzworthy EPs, including 2019's critically-praised Big Day.
Slow Pulp consists of members Emily Massey (guitar/vocals), Alex Julian Leeds (bass/vocals), Teddy Mathews (drums), and Henry Stoehr (guitar). While Leeds, Mathews and Stoehr are all childhood friends, Massey joined the band in 2017. "I can't describe a level of closeness with other people like we have," said Massey. "Having lived together, toured together, worked together and written together, we learned so much about each other so quickly."
Slow Pulp's self-produced, first full-length album Moveys was released in 2020. Pitchfork described the project as both "cathartic and restrained," while NME said it was "packed with a thousand deft little flourishes of texture which together add up to a deeply entrancing whole." Moveys was inspired in part by singer Emily Massey's desire to confront her physical and mental health struggles through cathartic songwriting.
In February 2023, the band announced they had signed to ANTI-, and would be touring with Death Cab for Cutie and the Pixies. They also released the punk-tinged single "Cramps" shortly after.
Slow Pulp's influences include a wide range of artists such as the Backstreet Boys, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Green Day, and Avril Lavigne.

stellar band. more than stellar vocals from lead singer emily, absolutely astonishing range and finesse to carry heavy guitar riffs and plush beats with a airy country twang “riff-excelling” voice. Madison home show was one to remember forever
All great! Lots of friends and family and both bands were stellar!!!
They sounded so good! Loved the energy of the crowd too!
so good live, i cried like 3 times because the lyrics rly hit home, vocalist is so amazing and the band is rly tight knit
