Infusing rhythmic, hard-hitting R&B with lo-fi influences & live?instrumentation, Samaria uses a visceral approach in her songwriting?and delivery, relaying the raw emotion of heartbreak & introspection?with her charismatic honeyed vocals. Born & raised in the Bay Area, the?24-year-old artist grew up on a healthy diet of '90s and '00s R&B/pop?including Aaliyah, Destiny's Child and Justin Timberlake, among?others. Samaria's early interest in music caught the attention of her late?grandmother who offered incentives for good grades like piano?lessons & Nickelodeon auditions to encourage her granddaughter to?pursue a career in the performing arts field. When her grandmother?passed, the then 14-year-old spiraled into depression and stopped?showing up to school, resulting in her almost flunking her freshman?year. Eventually she took the encouragement to heart by beginning to?write music that evolved into posting originals and a popular Drake?remix on her SoundCloud by the time she was a high school junior.?Buzz from her tracks led to a working relationship with a prominent?West Coast producer with whom she linked up with to produce her?debut EP "The Story of Right Now", Incorporating clever word-play?songwriting.
