Russell Peters on Tour
The rare North American stand-up comedian who can sell out arenas from L.A. to London to Sydney, Russell Peters returns to the stage with his latest roving revue, dubbed The Deported tour.?
The current show features Peters' first set of all-new material since taking a break from stand-up after filming his 2016 Netflix special, Almost Famous (though he was hardly idle during that stretch — on top of starring in a handful of films, Peters also launched his own prime-time series, The Indian Detective, which came to Netflix in 2018).?
Despite ascending to rock-star status in the comedy world — complete with dramatic, dry ice–assisted entrances — Peters' routine is still rooted in relatable, everyday anecdotes, as he regularly reenacts amusing family conversations that give his jokes a broad, cross-cultural appeal.
Russell Peters Background?
Raised in the suburbs of Toronto by Anglo-Indian parents, Russell Peters is a true 21st-century comedian, with a massive international following that reflects the connectivity of our world in the online age. And he actually owes his big break to the Internet.?
After paying his dues on the Canadian stand-up circuit for 15 years, Peters became one of the first comedians to go viral — in 2004, clips of his Comedy Now special began circulating on the then-nascent YouTube platform, with his astute observations on racial stereotypes earning him fans across the cultural spectrum.?
Since then, Peters has sidestepped the traditional Hollywood star-making machinery to cultivate audiences in places most North American comedians never venture — countries like Lebanon, Singapore, and Indonesia.?
Despite never starring in a massive film or TV series like Jerry Seinfeld or Chris Rock (who once quipped that Peters is "the most famous person nobody's heard of"), he orbits the same stratosphere when it comes to selling tickets. In 2013, Forbes magazine ranked him the third-richest comedian in the world with annual earnings of more than $20 million. However, in recent years, Peters has made significant inroads to becoming a household name in America, thanks to his well-received 2016 Netflix special, Almost Famous.
My first in-person watching Russell Peters and he is hilarious!!!! Laughter from beginning to end. Love it!! I laughed so hard, my throat hurts! LOL
Opening act was truly bad. Russell Peters was ok but too predictable with no new material. Not worth the price of tickets.
Always enjoy Russell’s comedy and humour. I just didn’t find this show to be overly funny. I used to have deep belly laughs but not so much this time. And u found it very short. His opening act was terrible. He actually had to read off of que cards. lol. His jokes weren’t great which is probably why even he would forget them.
Russell Peters was so funny! We had such a good night seeing him live! Best comedy show I’ve been to. He was my first stand up comedian that I liked growing up and to actually see him live was amazing! Would definitely do it again.
Russel was fantastic as always but the venue sucked, seats were uncomfortable and it took 45 minutes to leave the parking lot. A whole 2 exits for everyone leaving... more exits!!
Thought he would be funnier. He only stayed to one side of the stage. For the money we paid wouldn't do it again
This was a fantastic show. Completely new material from the last time we saw him. Great interaction with the audience. Left with sore ribs and a dry mouth.
Didn’t stop laughing! The venue itself, not a ton of leg room, and the seats felt cheap (if I moved, the next 3 seats also moved…). Russell Peters did not disappoint. Would recommend and would also go see him again, preferably in a different venue.
Russell was great, would go again. Warm up comedian seemed like a volunteer from the audience. Could have heard pins drop. Kind of expected a better opening act for such a known performer.
As usual Russell Peter was amazing ?? it was fun filled event with lots if laughs and gag! Can’t wait to go on another one!
Opening act.... not good... at all Main act... amazing... but security needs to crack down on the drunks with their phone cameras... and spilling beers everywhere.... sad to see the state of people attending .. took too long to deal with them
The opening talent was not good, he was reading from a card! Russel acted as if he was doing us a favour, he was busy laughing at the audience and no new material was presented. We paid to see a show but felt let down.
For my first live comedy show, russell peters did not disappoint. 1000/1000 will attend another future show. BRAVO
Russell Peters, is OUTSTANDING. This was our 2nd time seeing him. Just as good as the first time. The only thing is that we paid for front row seats and he was on the opposite side of the stage. There was a video camera at the end of the stage in front of us. I realize that he was being recorded so the equipment is needed. perhaps look for a new place to use your equipment. so we did not have to watch the screen most of the time when paying for front seats. It was our 4th ticket that had it worst, he had to sit on an angle for the entire show. Other than that Russell, Scratch and the team are amazing and we appreciate all you do to entertain us.
Omg what a great show. I would go and see Russell Peters again in a heartbeat. He was so funny and relatable. It was a fabulous venue as well to see a show. I would definitely see a show at the Windsor Casino again. Thanks Russell fellow Bramptonian for a great time. Cheers
He needs to retire. Or only perform for old men like him. They were the only ones laughing.
Wasn't as funny as most videos of seen of him, made fun of one guy in the audience about his weight so much that the guy left. Wouldn't go see him again.
Great show! I think it was particularly smart of the casino to put a warning for those who were in the front rows because one of the audience members left in a bit of a huff. It actually added to the show/humour, but I’m sure they didn’t think that it was very funny. I love that the entire show revolved around comments and interactions with the audience. He was just so funny.
Great opener and awesome crowd work, sorry Stewart! Aha
This is the 6th time seeing Russell Peters always a laugh.
