It was a lovely performance that we completely enjoyed.
Very impressed with every aspect of this production: from the individual performances to costumes and set design. First rate and not to be missed!
What a great show. It was wonderful to see all the talented performers - the choreography was really good and engaging - and most of all, the audience was enthusiastic and everyone was having a great time celebrating these young dancers.
The Red Chair Productions of the Nutcracker ballet at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA is really something to experience. If you are new to this ballet this version has a narrator who tells you the story as it goes along so you will be able to keep track of the dancers and the scenes. The is a very enjoyable production, the costumes and the sets are just beautiful. All the dancers are first rate, they are really something to see. If you are looking for a version of the Nutcracker you can take your family to this is the one to see. The children in this ballet are just wonderful. Make sure you get your tickets early because it does sell out. I go every year, I wouldn't miss it!
Such a great production! It was lovely! Thank you!
I Love everything about the performance! Costumes and decorations were very beautiful, it was nice to see children perform. I think this is a great opportunity to give children an experience to perform for the larger audience and for the viewer it was a nice show for a good /reasonable price. We loved that it wasn't perfect, because those little fall outs were making it the best! Enjoyed very much and would like to join again in the future. This was my first time experience and I would love to see performances like that in the future. Took my preschooler son with me, and he's enjoyed it as well! Good luck and thank you for your hard work!
The Alex Theatre is designated in National Register of Historic Places. When we decided to attend The Nutcracker, we looked to see where this production was being presented. We had choice of larger grander venues but when we saw that this production used children from 29 different local ballet schools the choice was clear - intimate art deco with local talent. We were not disappointed. In this intimate setting, we enjoyed the show in rear orchestra seats right in front of the sound team. The story was narrated (something different for this show) as the children danced in colorful costumes that had the most amazing details. The production values were impressive - from the creation of boxes in which the characters appeared, a tree that grew in front of our eyes - and fantastic artsy of characters that delighted us until the end. The lobby was decorated in Christmas theme. There were Nutcrackers throughout, as well as a photo opportunity in main lobby with balloons, Christmas ornaments and Nutcracker. Refreshments were sold at entrance as well as upstairs, there were tables and cushioned seats upstairs. If you want to be wowed by the art deco decor and a very well executed production this show is a MUST. Parking is available in several lots near the venue from $1-$10 but they fill quickly because it is located in large shopping area of Glendale. We found street parking on Maryland about 5 minute walk to venue. Overall a fantastic production we were happy we chose.
