Great fun
by B. VanHorn on 3/9/24The Santander Arena - ReadingMy wife and I drove from Norfolk, VA to Reading, PA to celebrate our wedding anniversary by attending a hockey game between the Norfolk Admirals (visiting) and the Reading Royals (home). We had a really great evening and a lot of fun at the game. There were over 2,000 people at the game, and we were the only two wearing Admirals jerseys, which was fun but we did feel conspicuous. The local fans were fantastic, despite our cheering for the "enemy", and as we wandered in the arena we were frequently and cheerfully greeted with "welcome to Reading". More than a few people took time to stop and ask us about our visit and our experience at the arena and in Reading. Many thanks to the arena and team staffs, and a special thank you to the Royals team mascot, Slapshot (and her helper), who greeted us warmly and took some pictures with us. The game was very entertaining, our Admirals won (sorry Royals), and we had a good time chatting with the local fans. All-in-all we had a great time, and this was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary.
