Portland Trail Blazers History
The Trail Blazers joined the NBA in the 1970 expansion. Despite the presence of back-to-back rookies of the year Geoff Petrie and Sidney Wicks, they struggled, finishing last in their division five of their first six seasons. Then, in a remarkable reversal, they went 49-33 in the 1976–77 season, led by big men Bill Walton and Maurice Lucas, guards Lionel Hollins and Dave Twardzik, and head coach Jack Ramsay.
After defeating the Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers in the first three rounds of the playoffs, they found themselves pitted against a powerhouse Philadelphia 76ers team led by Julius Erving, Caldwell Jones and George McGinnis in the NBA Finals. They dropped the first two games of the series but stormed back to win four straight to capture the franchise's only championship.
Title in hand, the Blazers would go on to make the playoffs 25 of the next 26 seasons. For 12 seasons starting in 1983, the catalyst was guard Clyde Drexler. In the 1989–90 season, with All-Star forward Buck Williams joining the team, the Blazers again made the NBA Finals, falling in five games to the Detroit Pistons. They posted a franchise-best 63-19 record the next season but succumbed to the Lakers in the Conference Finals. Another trip to the NBA Finals awaited in 1991–92, but the Blazers lost in six games to a Chicago Bulls team led by Michael Jordan.
The Blazers' forays into the playoffs continued through the 2002–03 season, with two of those trips, in 1998–99 and 1999–00, ending in losses in the conference finals. Beginning in the latter half of the 2000s, the team reached sustained regular season success behind notable talents like Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. Roy and Lillard both received the Rookie of the Year award for their respective first seasons.

Great atmosphere and welcoming staff! Beverage and food prices were high but overall great service and experience at the game!
I really enjoyed how helpful the staff was at the Moda Center when needing to find my seat.
Unfortunately the Blazers lost but we all had a great time. The clubhouse level seats were well worth it.
Thanks for an incredible evening with my favorite people
I’ve been to better venues. It was just a mid experience. It was a basketball game nothing more, nothing less. Tickets were cheap so that was a plus but nothing exciting at the location. OKC has so many photo oops and things to take in around the building so I compare every experience to there. Nothing has even came close. And I’m floored at how expensive merch is. 60 for a t shirt?!?!!
Using Ticketmaster, I went to two games at the Moda Center to see the Portland Trail Blazers. The game on jan 14, 2024, they lost to the Phoenix Suns, but the game on Jan 17th, they won over the Brooklyn Nets 105-103. I had a moment of panic, since my internet was done at the entrance and my Ticketmaster account couldn't load up. I stood on the side and turned off, then on my phone. Once I did that, I could get onto my Ticketmaster account and get into the game. Overall, I am happy I bought tickets on Ticketmaster. I saved money by buying verified resell tickets as opposed to buying tickets directly from the Moda Center site.
By all. No seriously holmes...a good time was had by all. This part is just to get the minimum character count.
All but one song played was heavy rap. I’m sure many there enjoyed this music. But most people there don’t fit into that mold. It would be nice if there were more songs a larger audience could enjoy.
I had the most fun time at the game with my husband! Got on the jumbo tron and got pics with the 2 mascots and my husband got a pic with a cheerleader.
It was so fun with my family. Blazers won the game.
The venue is great, views and in game entertainment make for a great overall experience
The Moda Ctr is a great place to watch an NBA game.
We flew in from Luxembourg only to see this game. We had a great time and we’re thankful for the effort and fighting spirit of the team! Inspiring! Thank you
I am originally from the Portland area and the Navy brought me to SoCal. I grew up watching the Trail Blazers when Clyde Drexler played. The Moda Center is amazing and it was fun watching my Team play. It was nice to see them win.
I got seats in the 100s section in row A and this was the best experience I have ever had. It was such an intense game and I was super close to the players. I have no bad reviews this was all super amazing I definitely recommend
Great game. Good atmosphere. Wish the lines to get in weee shorter. It was cold out there
Moda Center is beautiful , good food. However the seats have no leg room.
Great city, arena, atmosphere and very nice friendly staff. All that made my 1st game experience very fun and enjoyable.
Trailblazers games are always a good experience for me - everything is well organized, there are plenty of food and drink options. Pricing is high for food and beverages, especially non-alcoholic drinks, but that's the norm at sports events these days.
We spent a LOT of money on tickets. We had a Trailblazer fan behind us that loudly booed every time Chris Paul had the ball. Every time he yelled Boo for the entire game. When I turned around he winked at me. Even the Portland fans were super annoyed. Why is this ok?
