Feels too glamourized
by Casey on 8/29/24Moody Center ATX - AustinI have been to Gambler Days all three years. The first year was great; minus having whatever his name was singing. The second year was good. The party outside got bigger, but the PBR inside stayed PBR. Year three. It is more of a Who's Who versus a PBR bull riding event. The audience is not Texas-raised cowboy culture. This year came off as a yuppy Austin social hour. Wade Bowen, though not a fan of his music, was a fine choice for music. I am patiently waiting for Rick Trevino or Neal McCoy. All of the time killing events just seemed to be too much. No one cares about an air guitar show or a karaoke contest. Even the Ariat hat drop for the boots was too party-like. I would like to see the events get back to the rodeo clowns and bull riding like we see on Unleash The Beast and the Pendleton Whisky Velocity tours. This is an event my son and I enjoy together. We try to go to UTB and Velocity tour events here in TX because we enjoy the riding. Please drop the party and pick up the PBR. The clean man from Yoakum, Larry I believe it was, did a great job and he got little recognition. I have seen him in Cedar Park for whatever tour goes through there.
