New York Knicks History
The Knicks were established in 1946 and were one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America, which became the NBA after merging with the National Basketball League in 1949. The Knicks and Boston Celtics are the only two original NBA teams still located in their original cities.
The Knicks saw early success, advancing to the NBA Finals in three consecutive years from 1950 to 1953. They lost all three series, twice to the Minneapolis Lakers and once to the Rochester Royals. The franchise’s next successful era began in the late '60s, under the tutelage of head coach Red Holzman. They won 54 games in Holzman's first full season as head coach in the 1968–69 season, then improved to 60 wins the following year. The Knicks won their first NBA Championship in 1970, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. Holzman won Coach of the Year, while center Willis Reed won NBA MVP and Finals MVP.
Holzman and Reed led the Knicks back to the finals in two of the next three seasons, facing the Lakers both times. They split those two series, winning their second championship in the 1972–73 season.
The Knicks did not experience success again until the '90s, when future Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing led them back to the NBA Finals in 1993–94 and 1998–99. They lost both series, first in seven games to the Houston Rockets, then in five games to the San Antonio Spurs.
The Knicks traded for star Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in 2011. He proved to be an elite scorer, but team success eluded the Knicks. They made it to the playoffs three times in Carmelo's seven-year tenure with the team, winning one series in 2013.
The Knicks reached the playoffs once again during the 2020–21 season, reinvigorated by power forward Julius Randle, who was awarded the NBA’s Most Improved Player distinction in 2021, and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2023 with the additional firepower of newly acquired point guard Jalen Brunson.?

New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden
Located above Penn Station, the current Madison Square Garden has been the home to the Knicks since 1968 and is one of the most iconic arenas in all of sports. The Knicks' arena has always been called Madison Square Garden, and they played in the previous iteration from the founding of the franchise in 1946 until moving to the current building in 1968. The current MSG is the oldest NBA arena still in use. Madison Square Garden also has the distinction of being the only NBA arena that is not named after a corporate sponsor.

What a great atmosphere! We had a blast and more so with a Knicks WIN! Go to a game, you won't regret it!
Playoff t-shirts waiting at your seats, rally towels ready to roll, light wristbands to enhance the experience, excellent and diverse food choices; only previews of what was yet to come. The stars were out, the stadium was rocking and the game was incredible. Worth every penny spent. The 50% off food and nonalcoholic beverages using chase cards was a bonus. Once in a lifetime experience!
Exciting game won by the Knicks in comeback fashion in the closing seconds made for a very fun experience.
Great venue, fantastic game & entertainment. Fabulous memories. We will be back!
Seats and experience were worth every penny. MSG and New York fans are unlike any other experience especially during the playoffs.
I attend MSG for Knicks games at least 1-2x a season. The Garden is always on Fire! Goooo Knicks ??????
Easy card ordering, reliability, on-site user assistance, excellent organization. An exceptional experience.
We have a great Knicks game and it was rally fun watching the playoffs at the MSG. The think that bothered me was that we had a photo camera with us because we were around NY taking pictures the whole day but they didn't want to let us in with it. The worse thing is that if you won't let me in with it, you should have a locker to store it, since I'm not the only one tourist in NY with a photo camera in my bag. There was no other choice than going back to our hotel, and returning at the MSG. We almost lost the start od the game for that. Make some lockers MSG! We're in the most famous arena, aren't we?
An exceptional atmosphere throughout MSG!! It was truly amazing for us Dutchies to be part of the Knicks playoff game!! If only there would be a bit more legroom for us Europeans ;)
The seats I purchased from the seller were limited view with a hand rail banister In the view from one of the two seats. Sorry, but the price should have been reduced because most of the game, I sat on my seat while it was up in the closed position to let me see over the banister. I do not remember seeing any mention of issue with viewing from the seats. I paid $1,500.00 per seat. Very disappointing.
I had been to Barclays arena before, never to MSG. Always for the playoffs! Again it was a wonderful experience. Very high ticket cost (about $300), quick and safe way to purchase (ticketmaster). I watched the game from the 301 lounge and it was amazing!!!
Good service Good location Best show for the match , my first experience in madison square garden Unforgettable
We witnessed a magnifient match. Everything was perfect : match, entertainment, ... Thank you
The Garden is electric in April. Not a single bad seat in the house. Great food. Love the pop-up merch shop collabs. Amazing vibes all around.
There is nothing like NY Knicks playoff basketball at Madison Square Garden! The atmosphere is amazing and unmatched!
MSG during the play offs is the best place to be. The energy is immaculate.
Wow. Best game I’ve seen in person. What a ball game.
Best place on the planet to see a sporting event because of the best fans!
The best arena and the best atmosphere. I loved how the crowd was in a frenzy by the end of the game.
