Mike Kinnebrew on Tour
You might think the Georgia-born and bred singer/songwriter Mike Kinnebrew is living in your head. His lyrics are that relatable, and his melodies are that comfortable.
He released his debut album, Between the Living and the Dying, in 2010. The album was recorded in Nashville's famed The Smoakstack studio and produced by Andy Hunt. He delivered two new singles, also recorded at The Smoakstack, in 2019, "Where the Big Waves Are" and "Just Getting Started." His second album, One Way To Find Out, was recorded live at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, Georgia, across two nights of sold-out shows. Kinnebrew wrote all the songs for One Way To Find Out in the span of a few months of mornings, sitting on his front porch with a cup of coffee, his journal and sometimes a cigar.
In an interview with Atlanta's Lois Reit on iHeart Radio, Kinnebrew explained his thoughts on songwriting saying, "I love to tell a story. I don't remember who said it, but we love to know that we're not alone. And I think I talk, I write, and I play to feel less alone." If you'd like to feel (and hear) the warmth, fun and camaraderie of Mike Kinnebrew live, get tickets to see him when he comes to a city near you.
Mike Kinnebrew Live in Concert
Mike Kinnebrew was born in Atlanta and lives in Macon, Georgia now.? As a preacher's son, he moved around a lot during the first 12 years of his life. The family lived in Florida, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, and Virginia. The family moved back to Georgia just as he was about to start high school.
Kinnebrew got his start in music in high school when his parents made him attend a church camp. He told Atlanta's WABE, "There was a guy that would go out and sit under a tree and play acoustic guitar. People would go gather around him, especially the girls, and I remember thinking, 'I need to learn how to do that.' So, I got home and remembered my dad could play and had a guitar, and I asked him if he could teach me. We started with 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' by Peter Paul and Mary, and it just kept going from there."
His wife Lindsey is an accomplished singer in her own right and joins him onstage when her schedule as a medical doctor permits.
His 2022 single "What's Left of Me" is a song about second chances framed around his journey to sobriety at 45. In the interview with WABE, he said, "It's a song about second chances. It's a song about change. I'm 45 years old, and it's easy to believe that you just are what you are and that if you haven't changed by now, you're not going to ... don't believe the lie that it's too late." Inspiring words of encouragement from a master songwriter, and an example of his expertise in relatable songwriting that tells the story of all our lives.
