BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

London-born Maxine Nightingale began singing in elementary school, and by her teens she was performing in cabarets around the city. In the late ‘60s she released several singles on Pye Records but turned to the theater when the singles went unnoticed. After performing in a West End production of Hair for several years, she was convinced to return to the studio in 1976 to record “Right Back Where We Started From”.? Nightingale initially only requested a one-time $45 session fee for her vocals on the track, but the producers advised her to take a royalty instead. The advice paid off – the song shot to the Top 10 in both the US and the UK, going on to sell more than a million copies and paving the way for a string of successful albums released in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Nightingale continues to treat ticket buyers to nostalgia-filled sets of her beloved disco classics as she enters her fourth decade as a performer.
