During its two decades in existence, Los Bukis cemented itself as one of the most popular bands in Mexican music history, with countless hits and consistently excellent records. Los Bukis’ music is a seamless blend of traditional Mexican music and pop, and the band’s concerts feature a huge range of Mexican music – from traditional folk songs to melodious pop ballads. Because of the band’s wide appeal, tickets to their shows and tours are sought out by people of all ages, making their audience one of the most diverse in the country. Before disbanding in 1995, the band put out their final album, Por Amor a Mi Pueblo, which reached the No. 5 spot on the U.S Latin chart. An anthology of their music, Antologia, was put out in 2013, and since its release, it has reached the No. 12 spot on the Regional Mexican Albums chart and the No. 26 spot on the Top Latin Albums chart.
Los Bukis, which means “the kids,” was founded by cousins Joel and Marco Antonio Solis in 1975. While the other members of the band rotated, both Solis cousins remained with the group for two decades, guiding it to the place of esteem it eventually reached. Los Bukis hit big with their first album, Falso Amor, which went on to shape popular musical styles across Latin America for years to come. The album sold over one million records in a year, garnering it diamond status. In 1989, Los Bukis won four Lo Nuestro Awards, honoring the best in Latin music. Los Bukis’ albums and singles consistently appeared on both the Latin American and the U.S. Latin charts, helping it develop an outstanding reputation in Mexico as well as internationally. Los Bukis hasn’t made new music in awhile, but the popularity of the recent re-release of some of their best is a true testament to the timelessness and enduring quality of the stuff they made nearly two decades ago.
Excellent music from the past, bringing back memories. Gracias Bukis.
It was great seeing Marco Antonio Solis back with his former band. They should stay together forever. All the songs they made and sang brought back a lot of nostalgia. The sound I thought was exceptional. I would go back and watch them again
The concert was a unique experience. I loved it. They sang all my favorite songs. The sound, the performance and the place, everything was incredible. I enjoyed it to the fullest, a thousand times better than 2 years ago when they performed here at the bay area.(Oakland) Love Bukis ??
The concert was a gift for my dad‘s birthday since Los Bukis is one of his favorite bands. The whole family went to the concert and we all had the best time. Marco Antonio’s singing and the bands performance was amazing. We sang along to all of the songs. My dad said it was the best concert he had ever been to and the best birthday gift he has ever received. We could also see how much the rest of the crowd was enjoying it.
It was amazing, best experience ever. I was celebrating my 50th birthday with my family, I sang all the songs and dance the cumbias, it took me back to my beautiful young life. I absolutely love it. ??????
The concert was amazing completely worth the trip. I would do it all again ??
I loved the experience of getting to see and hear the Bukis at Dolby Live.
I have been to many of his concerts and they have all been great, but I think this one was the best that I have attended. I also really liked the venue.
