LRB formed in Melbourne in 1975 when lead singer Glenn Shorrock and guitarist Beeb Birtles merged their established success in previous ventures to cement their status in an already vibrant Australian rock scene. Current frontman and longest tenured member Wayne Nelson joined the band five years later as a bassist and vocalist. Nelson has contributed to 23 of Little River Band's studio album releases over 42 years, and many of their major hits, including "Take It Easy on Me," "The Night Owls" and "The Other Guy." Shorrock and Birtles left the group and briefly returned, contributing to a turnstile of rotating members coming and going that would plague the group for years. By 1998, no original members of LRB remained, and Nelson and Stephen Housden would claim legal rights to the band's name. In 2004 the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame inducted the 1976 lineup of Little River Band -- Graeham Goble, Glenn Shorrock, Beeb Birtles, Derek Pellicci, David Briggs, and George McArdle -- during a ceremony at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards. The band's latest release, Black Tie, is a passionate, energetic collection of live performances of the core group with an injection of spirit from the Craig Turley Rock Symphony. Current members of Little River Band include: Wayne Nelson, Chris Marion (keys), Bruce Wallace (guitar), Ryan Ricks (drums/percussion), and Colin Whinnery (guitar).
