Kentucky Wildcats Women’s Basketball History
The University of Kentucky first fielded a women’s basketball team in 1902, but the team officially became a varsity program in 1974. The Wildcats qualified for their first March Madness run in 1982 and reached the Elite Eight. That same year, the team secured their first conference tournament championship. Under head coach Matthew Mitchell, the Wildcats returned to the Elite Eight in 2010, 2012 and 2013 and secured their first regular season title in the Southeastern Conference. Coach Kyra Elzy, who joined the team in 2020, led Kentucky to their second SEC tournament championship in 2022.?

Kentucky Wildcats Women’s Basketball at Memorial Coliseum
The Kentucky Wildcats women’s team competes at Memorial Coliseum, which opened in 1950 as the University of Kentucky’s primary athletic center. The men’s and women’s basketball teams shared the facility until the completion of Rupp Arena in 1976, and Memorial Coliseum now houses four of the school’s women’s teams: basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and STUNT. In 2022, Memorial Coliseum underwent extensive renovations, relocating the women’s basketball team temporarily to Rupp Arena and Transylvania University's Clive M. Beck Center.
Tickets for the 2024-25 Wildcats' basketball season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Kentucky Wildcats.
The Kentucky women’s basketball team typically play at Memorial Coliseum, but will compete at the university’s Rupp Arena while Memorial Coliseum undergoes renovations through 2024. The seating map for women’s basketball at Rupp Arena can be viewed here.

The game was so much fun. The “games” during timeouts were fun. Overall a great experience.
The game was incredible! The girls played their heart out and the seating was Amazing. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching UK women’s Basketball.
Atmosphere was positive and the staff at the gate as well as at the concession stand were top notch. Looking forward to when the renovation of the coliseum is complete
Not fun or efficient; had to change my email password. Missed first quarter of game.
It was senior day an a send off to one of uk"s best players ..great time an a huge win ..we all need to support the woman like we do the men .
Tickets should be sold on lower level. Fill it!! Let people sit on second level for free. Move pep band to lower level. Tell cheerleaders to be more professional-it was ugly seater day. Get dressed or go home. Dance team great. Fix the roof. Make facility pristine.
Tickets were easy to download Excellent seats Cats won
