JOYWAVE IN CONCERT:
Few bands can get self-restrained indie rock fans dancing with reckless abandon quite like Joywave. The New York-based quintet blends sunny indie melodies with disco beats and shimmering synths, and the result is a seriously party-worthy sound that always gets fans moving their feet. In concert frontman Daniel Armbruster delivers his effortlessly cool vocals with plenty of style, and fans can't help but boogie along with him as he shakes to the driving rhythms of tracks like "Destruction". Whether they're performing their breakout hit "Dangerous" or rocking out to the anthemic chorus of "Tongues", Joywave brings plenty of feel-good disco energy to the stage every time they perform. ?
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Joywave formed in Rochester, NY in 2010 and made their debut the following year with the single "Ridge". They self-released their first EP Koda Vista in 2012, and in 2013 they topped Billboard's Alternative Songs chart with "Dangerous", a collaboration with Brooklyn-based indietronica producer Big Data. The exposure from that breakout hit led to a flurry of critical attention, and the band made good on all the buzz in 2014 with their second EP How Do You Feel. As the singles "Tongues" and "Somebody New" racked up plays online, the band hit the road for extensive touring that included a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live. After touring they returned to the studio, and in 2015 they released their full-length debut album How Do You Feel Now? The album was a critical and commercial success, cracking the Top 40 on both the Alternative and Rock charts and drumming up major excitement for their tour in support of the release.
Show was so good. 10/10. Excellent performance second time seeing them and would absolutely see them again.
Awesome show full of energy with a nice intimate crowd. Merch was great as well, but wished I had picked up more!
I've seen them perform 4 times in the past 3 years. They always put on a great show with a ton of energy. The crowd is always great too but I think that's a result of the performance. Will definitely go see them again.
Yes I ?? have been to that area My favorite ?? it’s beautiful ??
The vocals and instruments charged the room and caused a frenzy. If you passed on this show... It was a mistake. Joywave and HUNNY were entertaining and musically talented. I didn't want the show to end.
These guys are AMAZING. Third show and counting - what awesome performers/players/energy. Hope they come back soon <3
They can put on quite a show. Great sound crew, light show, & performance. The audience felt the music and the flow kept everyone mesmerized. Great drinks, comfy venue for a sold out show. Great staff. Best show I've seen in a LONG time.
A live concert is required to fully appreciate the innovative music and vocals, the fine-tuned lightshow, the beautiful original sounds, and the engaging lead. I also enjoyed the talent and music of Elliot Lee, with what were aptly described as "edgy" lyrics, and Dizzy, an incredible Canadian Indie band. All three bands complemented each other with contrasting styles and energy, enhancing the experience greatly.
Joywave are amazing live performers. They made me jump around and dance to songs of theirs that I'm not even a huge fan of the studio recordings for. Elliot Lee was so nice, This was their first tour and they did a great job on stage, and were very nice to meet at the merch table. Mad respect to them for having the confidence to play a song about gender identity struggles on their first ever tour. So glad to see people having the courage to give that topic a voice on stage. Dizzy also put on a nice more chill side of the show, a very nice set to even out the pacing of the concert. Loved their vibe and bought their vinyl, the singer ran their merch table and she was also nice to meet and chat with. A really fun show, really nice people, and a very chill crowd. I highly recommend catching a show for this tour if you still can.
Joywave always puts on an amazing show! I have see them multiple times and can’t wait to see them again. Always a great time. Love their music!
