Thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Meacham’s historical and current day political discussion. He has an amazing talent to incorporate humor to his experiences in the political arena. A speaker you could listen to for hours and would feel like 15 minutes!
Jon Meacham is amazing. Seeing him speak is one of my 10 best days of my life. I loved the stories about George Bush especially the quote, "knowing someones heart is knowing what breaks it." This will stick with me forever. I hope to hear him again for a book signing.
Jon Meacham is a real treasure. He not only is a distinguished historian, he is a very gifted speaker. I expected to be informed about his subject, but I never thought he would be such a delightful wit! He had the audience laughing as soon as he began his talk, right through to the end. His accounts of times he spent with the subject of his latest biography, George H. W. Bush, were fascinating and revealed some of the foibles and even missteps of our 41st President, all told without a hint of disrespect or mean spiritedness. Mr. Meacham has met many important politicians and entertainers over the years, and I doubt that any one of them would have an unkind word to say about him. He exudes goodwill and generosity towards his fellow human beings, even when he doesn't agree with their positions. I wish I had had a teacher like him when I was in college - I might have become a history major!
Great talk by Meacham. Gives us hope for democracy.
