Joe Pera was so good! Funny, charming, great merch. I would definitely go see him again!
Joe Pera was hilarious!! This was my first time seeing him and I would absolutely see him again. I wish I could remember the name of the fella who opened for him, he was also hilarious. I think his first name was Richard. 11/10 recommend.
the audience participants that came on stage took up too much of the show. would have preferred to hear more jokes / stories from joe. still love joe though. + i would go to another show.
Joe Pera is a genius! I will see him live any chance I get.
I have seen some of his videos and I am aware he has his own show. His humor is quirky and weird but I feel like I often understand it. I don’t feel that the show I witnessed exemplified those positive characteristics however. His opening act fall flat, and sadly any attempts to salvage what was left was also weak and unfulfilling, like bringing a somewhat intoxicated member of the audience to participate in a play of sorts. I invited a friend who was also encouraged by positive reviews and upon driving home she informed me that I was no longer in charge of picking comedians…and I had paid for the tickets! Anyway, I still think Joe has a talent but should surround himself with a higher quality of supporting cast. Sorry that I couldn’t be more supportive because I had had high hopes.
The opener for Joe Pera had some weak material, and was unnecessarily loud. He's a likeable guy with charisma but needs to work on his material. As for the main show, it would have been wonderfully fun and as introspective and perfectly paced as Joe Pera usually is, the sad thing was a specific audience member really brought the show to a halt for almost thirty minutes. Constantly yelling out, trying to have full on conversations with Joe Pera, and Joe seemingly was too nice to reject the man's request to be the person chosen to come on-stage to perform what otherwise could have been an extremely fun and engaging section of the show. The entire audience kept asking for the segment to be shortened just to get the man off the stage. He kept being overly active and distracting really brought the entire show down and made everything awkward, especially since the performer, Joe Pera, seemed far too polite to me able to shut him down. I respect and admire him not wanting anyone to feel bad, thus not wanting to tell the man to stop, but it was at the cost of the shows enjoyment. As someone who rarely leaves the house, and was really excited to attend, it's really depressing to think a single person can take over the show and ruin so much of the show. The show even ended up running long due to his shenanigans. Overall really disappointed I wasn't allowed to enjoy something I was looking forward to for so long.
Not only was Joe Pera absolutely hilarious, but his opener, Carmen Christopher, had me in stitches too! They both came off as so effortlessly funny. Wether they come back together or as separate acts, I'll be seeing either of them when they come back through my city.
The show was extremely funny with many good jokes and if you enjoy joe peras show and or comedy special you'll enjoy this however it was also at times hard to hear weather this is because of the mics, comedians mumbling or my own inability to hear I do not know.
The Moore Theater staff are always friendly and helpful. We've never seen a bad show there. Joe Pera was more of the same. Funny set and we also enjoyed the opening act.
I've read reviews of the Moore's sound for standup that were pretty negative and thought "oh it can't be *that* bad". Well, it really is (at least up in the balcony section - might be better in the main area). Not sure if they have house folks that do the sound or if it's the road guys that don't understand how sound bounces around the cavernous inside of the Moore, but the opener Carmen Christopher was almost unintelligible due to the boomyness an echoey nature of the sound there. Seemed like a low-mid range boomy overpowering the actual words being said. Joe's set was a little better, but mostly because his delivery is sow low-key, quiet and dry. Still was pretty hard to tell what he was saying most of the time. I've seen music there from the balcony before and the sound is generally pretty good, but for stand-up, seemingly not so much. The show itself was great aside from the sound issue. Joe and Carmen have great chemistry. I highly recommend the Pera's Tour, just not so much in the Moore.
