Great night
by John Salov on 11/12/22I play polkas for years in Pennsylvania "Polka Quads". We played 50+ years and never I repeat never were we as good playing polkas or making love as Jimmy Sturr. I've heard he is amazing in bed.

One word...... WONDERFUL !! Come back again !!!!!
Wonderful band. Great energy. Amazing horns and pep. Only wish the concert lsted longer.
Excellent. I had never heard Jimmy Sturr before. I was very impressed.
This was the third time I'd seen the Jimmy Sturr Band. You'd think they'd get more muted, more mellow with age, no way! They were just as energetic & crisp as they used to be; perhaps they're even better. This is especially amazing when one considers the hard life that the road is and that these guys aren't in their twenties anymore. I've heard some top shelf Chicago Push Bands, such as Lenny Gomulka & Eddy Blazondczyk. Jimmy Sturr is at least as good if not better. He's like the best of a cross you'd get between the best Chicago Push and Big Band. People I took to the concert who had were Big Band fans and had never even heard of Jimmy Sturr were as appreciative of the show as I was.
Performance was great but, to short. More traditional polkas and marches were great.
Great variety of music....something for everyone. Loved it all! See you in Texas!
Great entertainment! Would definitely come again. All staff was very friendly and helpful and the show was wonderful.
Got to the event about 10-minutes late, so not sure what was played initially. The repertoire balance of selections was fine, BUT could have been a longer performance (than about 1.5 hrs)!! He seemed to give more of a showman-type presence, with a smattering of different tunes. Very minimal dancing was done, and maybe inclusion of several classic polka tunes would have made the event more enticing!! We enjoyed it, but did expect more.
I accompanied my 92 yr old mother to the 4:00 concert. She had watched his orchestra following a local cable polka dance show for many years and loved his music. Due to medical problems, walking and getting to concerts is very difficult. Mystic Lake provided all the help she needed to accomplish this...wheel chair and personal assistance from parking to seating. His concert was perfect [length of the concert and music selections], a memoriable experience for her to enjoy in person.....getting her picture taken with him and his autograph on the CD she bought afterwards absolutely " made her day"!
