One of the most well-rounded artists in hip-hop, Jim Jones is best known as a member of famed Bronx hip-hop crew The Diplomats (aka Dipset), but also for a meme-ified dance move from his biggest solo hit, "We Fly High." In the video for the 2005 cut, the rapper does a fake jump-shot motion on the song's punctuative proclamation, "Ballin'!" It swept the Internet, and fans mimic the move every time Jones performs "We Fly High" at a show. On stage, Jones is as benevolently brash as his rhyme style, spitting bars from his seven solo studio albums, as well as the material that made him, Cam'ron, Juelz Santana, and Freekey Zekey influential rap icons since Dipset's formation in 1997. While Dipset staged reunion tours in both 2010 and again in 2018 following the release of their third album, Diplomatic Ties, Jones' endeavors as a solo artist, reality TV star and entrepreneur have kept him prolific on his own and he brings a newfound bravado every time he takes the stage. "I gotta stay relevant. Nobody trying to be out here looking old like yesterday," he tells Billboard. "You trying to look like you new in here and ready for tomorrow. You gotta find that thin line of maintaining who you are without sacrificing your dignity and staying in the wave the kids got going on."?

The son of an Aruban mother and Puerto Rican father, Joseph Guillermo Jones II (Jim Jones) grew up in the Bronx. He founded Diplomat Records with his friend Cam'ron, and the two formed the four-member rap group The Diplomats (Dipset) in 1997. Jones released his solo debut, On My Way to Church, in 2004, and it reached No. 3 on the U.S. Rap charts. His next three albums all hit No. 1 and peaked in the Top 10 of the overall charts. More than just a rap star, he owns the Nostic clothing line, starred in two seasons of VH1's Love & Hip-Hop, became part owner of the Arena Football League Richmond Roughriders (now the West Virginia Roughriders), appeared in The Wire and is now signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation management agency.
