About
The Indiana Hoosiers baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana. The team is a member of the Big Ten Conference, and competes in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Hoosiers play their home games at Bart Kaufman Field, which is located on the university's campus.
The Hoosiers have won four Big Ten Conference championships, in 1949, 1951, 1952, and 1953. They have also appeared in the NCAA Tournament 14 times, most recently in 2022.
The Hoosiers have had a number of players who have gone on to play professional baseball. Some of the most notable include Kyle Schwarber, Micah Johnson, and Aaron Slegers. Schwarber was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He has played for the Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies.
Johnson, an infielder, was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the ninth round of the 2012 MLB Draft. Johnson made his MLB debut in 2015 and has played for multiple teams, including the White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and San Francisco Giants.
Finally, Slegers, a right-handed pitcher, was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the fifth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. Slegers made his MLB debut in 2017 and has pitched for the Twins, Tampa Bay Rays and Pittsburgh Pirates.
