Houston Texans Team History
Established in 1999 as Houston’s second NFL franchise (after the Oilers moved and became the Titans), the Houston Texans did not participate in their first official NFL season until 2002. In their first home opener, the Texans beat the Dallas Cowboys 19-10, becoming the first NFL expansion team to win their opening game since the Vikings beat the Bears in 1961.?
The Texans secured their first big win as the AFC South champions in 2011 and clinched their first berth into the playoffs. They have since secured the title five more times, in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019.?
