Green Day redefined punk rock in a post-grunge world. Rising from the Bay Area punk scene in 1987, the band released several EPs before coalescing into their long-standing lineup of vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. The trio shared the independent album Kerplunk in 1991 before releasing their major label debut Dookie in 1994. Behind singles like “Longview,” “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around,” which each topped the Alternative Airplay chart, Dookie reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Dookie earned Green Day three Grammy nominations, including a win for Best Alternative Music Performance, and the album continues to stand as the band’s best-selling release with over 20 million copies sold worldwide. Green Day followed with 1995’s Insomniac and 1997’s Nimrod, with the latter boasting the band’s biggest creative shift with the rare acoustic single, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” After 2000’s Warning, Green Day spent the next few years developing their first of several ambitious projects, the 2004 punk rock opera American Idiot. The album became Green Day’s first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and it logged two Top 10 singles with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” American Idiot garnered seven Grammy nominations and won two, including Best Rock Album. The band won the Best Rock Album Grammy again with 2009’s concept album 21st Century Breakdown. A stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway in 2010 and won two Tony Awards and a Grammy for the cast recording. Furthermore, Green Day were first-ballot inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

This was the best Green Day show I’ve been to, and I’ve been to a lot. The smashing Pumpkins also sounded better at this show than they have in probably 20 years. Great success!!
I enjoyed Green Day to the fullest as they were the main band, but also Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Linda`s.
Green Day puts on the best concert ever! True performers, they keep the audience engaged, and the music is perfect! Highly recommend! I've gone twice, and will go again!
??????Great concert overall. Green Day sounded amazing, such a wonderful experience and memorable one.
This was the best concert I have ever been to. Green Day is my favorite band of all time, and T-Mobile Park was the perfect venue for it. The VIP experience was so fun, the extra photobooths were a fantastic touch and so much fun, the snacks were great, and the merch was fantastic! The process coming in and finding where we needed to go was super smooth, the staff was super helpful and friendly, and the food is always delicious. Having multiple merch stands was a good idea, having one on the floor with a shorter line made it a lot smoother. More merch stands throughout the entire venue would be a great change to see, because up higher the other lines were very long for the other fans. It was an amazing experience I will never forget, and being outdoors with beautiful weather made it absolutely perfect.
The concert was excellent. Green Day did not disappoint and I love the fact that he would encourage the audience to participate in the songs.
It had one of the best lineups of any concert I've ever attended! This was the 1st stadium concert I've ever been to & I will be attending future stadium concerts!
Hands down, the best concert I have ever experienced. Linda Lindas, Rancid, Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day absolutely killed it! I will never forget this show for as long as I live!
I'm a big fan of Green Day as a band, and - if possible - an even bigger supporter of Billie Joe as lead. I last saw them live at Fenway in Boston in the summer of 2022, and was really (really) excited to see them in Austin when I was visiting TX this year, and so I splurged for pit tickets to their show on Sept 10th at a small-ish outdoor ampitheater. The pit was literally packed, with barely any room to move. At all. The acoustics were sub-par (over-the-top volume, but really poor audio fidelity based on other shows and venues I frequent). And the band was in a rush. Some songs were noticeably faster than the versions we know and love, I'm pretty sure we heard some without all the verses, and honestly every second of the show looked like work for the band. We all have bad days, and I have no idea what else was going on in their individual or collective lives that day. Maybe, also, the small venue size (e.g. lower gross sales) had a role in their thinking about getting on stage, doing what they needed to do, and getting back on the road to the next gig. Mostly, I wish things had been a little slower, a little more authentic, and with better experiential conditions for an awesome show. Not every crowd or venue is going to project the same energy back on stage to performers, and I wish for them the people there had worked a little harder showing love back, too. But there's a reason we pay a ridiculous amount and sometimes plan out months to still see live them 30 years later, and... it wasn't their best show. I'll leave it there. Side note: The weather was great, which Austin seems to specialize in. The venue - essentially a slice of a larger F1 track - is a little far from town, and vehicle and foot traffic flows were both a more than a little painful. But the layout once you are there is sort of ideal for a more intimate show and experience overall (the longest drink line I was in was < 10 mins), and entry couldn't have been faster or easier.
