GBH IN CONCERT:
More than three decades after their debut, British street punk pioneers GBH continue to carry the torch for hard-charging, attitude-filled punk rock. The band's name stands for "grievous bodily harm", and they live up to the moniker with breakneck tempos, bludgeoning guitar riffs, and morbidly titled tracks like "City Baby Attacked by Rats". At their adrenaline-filled live shows GBH are as loud and snarling as ever, inspiring frenetic audience moshpits while frontman Colin Abrahall lords over the mayhem with wild-eyed intensity.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Charged GBH (commonly known as simply GBH) formed in Birmingham, England in 1978. The band's morbid lyrics, relentless drumbeats, and heavy guitar distortion distinguished them from first-wave punk bands and helped pioneer a harder style of street punk that became known as UK 82. Their 1982 debut LP City Baby Attacked By Rats was embraced by fans for its fast, aggressive songs, and is today regarded as a benchmark album in the development of hardcore. Since then GBH has stayed remarkably true to their original sound, thrilling fans with numerous albums, EPs, and live releases marked by their unflinchingly authentic sound. A consummate live act beloved for their pomp and showmanship, GBH continue to annihilate with epic performances on their must-see tours.
Been wanting to see these guys since high school. I was NOT disappointed in the least. Go see them while you still can!
These dudes put on a hell of a show! Energy was insane, a must see band!
I have been listening to GBH since I was a teenager and seeing them live was surreal! The vibe was great and everyone was having a blast from up the Balcony down to the Main Floor. I have not had this much fun in a very long time. Thank you for letting me relive my youth and for being awesome. You guys really rocked that night!
GBH was excellent. The songs, sound, and performance
All three bands were great!! had the best time. GBH preformed as good or better than they did in the 80s. I’ll see them every time they come here!
I might not have been to a show at the TLA since the '90s. Most of who I want to see are dead. Dave Dictor and GBH ain't dead yet. Great time, wanted to give a big thumbs up to the TLA staff who are super friendly.
What a great show, the energy was abusive. The Casualties brought a stellar set to a very excited crowd. GBH gives good pit, need more punk shows it NY
This was old school with old and new blood! Only complaint was that it should have been in Heaven and no barricade! David is awesome as new Casualties front man. GBH did not disappoint (my third time seeing them). Opening act was fantastic. Need more shows like this at the Masquerade.
I think the first time I saw this band live was in the mid 80's. They are still one of my favorite punk bands to see live as they never ever disappoint. The 3 new songs they played were great and then of course the rest of the set was filled with favorites like City Baby and City Baby's Revenge. Three of the members have been in the band since 1978 and the drummer since 1994 so it's refreshing to see pretty much the original line-up. Collin's voice as strong as every!!!
Really good show. They looked great for 50's. Packed. They are so damn cool. They played some of my favorites off their metal cross over records. And it's the first time I have ever seen an old guy band play new stuff that is as good or better . They ain't tired at all
