Future Islands are a band whose brilliance was always hiding in plain sight. One viral moment might have catapulted them to worldwide recognition, but they were just doing what they always did - pouring their heart and soul into every moment, and channelling art's great power to spread love and hope. It was, quite simply, who they are. Long, hard years on the road, and the sense of constantly traveling away from something, have shaped the band many ways, both spiritually and physically. Always leaving, never arriving, the horizon an impossible destination to be chased but never caught. Future Islands' new album As Long As You Are is out now on 4AD.

Hi, I admire the energy of the band on their second to last show. However it should be noted that the sound at White Oak Music Hall downstarts really needs to be improved, under the mezzanine the sound was terrible, only after people started leaving and we were able to move a little closer did it improve. Also, being 5'1 and wanting to be downstairs close to the band seems imposible, venues should really consider doing something to improve the experience of shorter people.
Loved the energy!! These guys put on a great show ????????
The band was great but the venue was awkward. Security kept telling us we couldn’t stand in certain areas, would tell us to move somewhere else and when we would go where they told us to go, another security guard would tell us we couldn’t stand there. Eventually we had to stand behind a pillar with no view of the band (which it was my favorite band). There was clearly too many people in there without the ability to see the band. We drove from the oc and got a hotel room to this concert and only saw the back of people’s heads or a pillar. That venue shouldn’t sell so many tickets and security need to not be so aggressive towards people who pay to be there. They treated us like we snuck in and aren’t allowed to be there.
Great venue, but the sound quality was not so great. In fact poor. It might have been that we were in the balcony, but none of us could understand a word he was saying. Too bad as he is realty a poet with personal stories to tell, but that, we missed. Other than that we did like the place.
The cost of beverages and tips at The Van Buren are excessive to the point of disrupting the show.
Theatrical and fun!! Loved the energy and interaction.
Future Islands at the Van Buren (Phx) was exceptional. They sounded great and the Van Buren is always a great spot for a show.
This was one of the best shows I've seen all year. The energy was non stop. The venue is not great though they need better sound engineers
I've seen them twice and they haven't disappointed. He is one of the best lead singers around between his vocals, energy, and overall charisma. I finally was able to take my husband who has seen some of the greatest musical entertainers around, and he even said it was one of the best concerts he's seen. I will see them whenever, wherever, I am able.
