DUSTIN KENSRUE IN CONCERT:
?
Singer-songwriter Dustin Kensrue rose to prominence as frontman of California post-hardcore outfit Thrice, but lately it's his more introspective work that keeps fans buzzing. Kensrue's 2015 LP Carry the Fire eschewed hard-hitting elements in favor of a more country rock-inspired approach, and the new direction perfectly complemented his emotional lyrics and heart-rending vocals. At his live shows Kensrue takes the stage solo with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica, but the stripped-down production never feels wanting thanks to his evocative songwriting and soulful delivery. Whether he's exploring spiritual themes on "It's Not Enough" or searching for universal truths on "Of Crows and Crowns", Kensrue always treats ticket buyers to a deeply personal and soul-stirring concert experience. ?

Dustin Kensrue formed venerable Orange County post-hardcore band Thrice in 1998 with his high school friend and guitarist Teppei Teranishi. The group’s aggressive, technical playing style made them a fast favorite in the SoCal hardcore scene, and by the 2003 release of their third album The Artist in the Ambulance they had cracked the Top 20 on the Billboard 200. The band’s success continued unabated throughout the ‘00s, and in 2007 Kensure made his solo debut with the album Please Come Home. The record was a critical hit, earning praise for its subtle instrumentation and emotional subject matter. Kensrue followed up with a Christmas album and an EP while simultaneously continuing to record and Tour with Thrice, but in 2012 the band went on hiatus. Kensure released his third solo album The Water & the Blood the following year, once again reaping extensive praise from critics. In 2015 he thrilled fans with both a Thrice reunion and his highly anticipated fourth solo album Carry the Fire.

I have seen Dustin with and without Thrice many times. He is a very talented artist and I love seeing him live.
Dustin is an incredibly talented and gifted musician. He is much more of an excellent performer than entertainer, but I highly recommend seeing him live. Thrice is much better live and I prefer their music to Dustin's solo stuff, but he is still excellent.
I had a great time. Andy was hilarious and made it a very entertaining evening. The Venue is great.
