We've seen dirtwire 2x and the previous time was small and intimate with no visuals but all 3 main members. It was more of electronic country sound and we really enjoyed it. Went this time and they had one giant screen and basically nothing else on stage. Not sure if they cut down for our area or just don't put as much into it anymore but it was disappointing. The music has changed over the years they're really boarding on really repetitive dubstep band now like space jesus. (sure they still play some of their old songs) I get there's a following for that but it's not what I fell in love with. As far as competing with space jesus it's about the same show visually but they do better with the music imo. Hopefully, they'll correct their course and go back to the more country/bluegrass sound and incorporate more interesting visuals. Since one their members is from Beats Antique (I'm fairly confident he wasn't here this time) they have one of the best sources for inspiration if they chose to use it.
Ok. I've seen this band before...at the same venue. It's possible that I got old and cranky in a year, but none of my friends expected the direction they went in. This super awesome band committed to dubstep. I had trouble receiving it. Now, this is not the band's fault, but the venue was smelly. Like hot yoga karate dojo smelly. That's on the Elm. The whole bottom floor smelled of BO at 8pm. It was 14 degrees out that night. Why? Better ventilation would make a better venue. Wait...I saw Ani Difranco at the same venue around the same time of year!? NO BO! None. Be prepared for the crowd they attract.
Dirtwire was an epic show! The Station was a great venue for it. Highly recommend!
This was a fantastic experience, dirtwire has such a broad range and they transitioned between it all flawlessly. Probably top 3 shows I’ve been to. Additionally the two openers Simba Sax and Free Creatures were amazing as well and fit the genre of dirtwire. The venue was okay, it was hot and the bar didn’t take cash or Apple Pay (it also was $$$) Overall great experience and would recommend everyone sees all three of these bands if they get the chance
Wow!!! What an absolutely amazing show!!! I will make sure to attend ALL Dirtwire AND Free Creatures shows that come to Utah from now on!!! It was amazing to see such talent and to see the crazy instruments they played! Truly mind blowing!!!! I highly recommend NOT missing any shows Dirtwire or Free Creatures are playing!!!!!!!
This show was super fun and worth it! It was like a bunch of space people were passing through earth and decided to party with some cowboys. This is a new scene to me and Dirtwire and their fans brought the good vibes and amazing music. The show openers Simba Sax and Free Creatures were amazing. The performance all three groups was phenomenal. I’m glad that I decided to go to the show and experience something new. I would definitely go again!
This was one of the best Dirtwire shows I’ve seen, and I’ve seen many over the years. I’d never been to the venue before but it felt like a perfect setting for Dirtwire. The show itself was incredible. Their ability to effortlessly transition from ecstatic jams to calmer cool downs is impeccable. The inclusion of horns added a delectable flare, and the drum circle in the pit? It’s hard to ask for more. Not to mention the Of the Trees cover and a couple other forays into bassy electronic music mixed in with their well known classics and amazingly unique instruments. All around it was a great show - everything I could have wanted from Dirtwire.
Amazing venue, amazing performances, amazing community!!! Love love love!!!
Didn't realize it was going to be a rave. Enjoyed myself though. I like checking out new bands.
