The GuruGanesha Band which opened for Deva Premal and Miten was fun and uplifting. Deva Premal and Miten brought a deeper presence. The mantras were truly inspiring.
Loved the concert! Would go again tomorrow if they were still in town!
The first act, the Guruganesh Band was electrifying. Amazing guitar work, high energy, beautiful sound all round. Deva Premal and Miten provided a serenely powerful, crowd interactive performance, their vibration and energy hdightened by intervals of requested whole crowd silence between songs. Altogether an amazing night.
If you get a chance to see Deva and Miten in person, jump at it. It is a great evening -- her gorgeous voice, amazing music, great mix of slow and fast, energetic and thoughtful, playful and solemn. So at the most superficial level, they're brilliant, but what really makes them over the top is what happens to the vibration in the room -- it's sublime. Their CDs which are outstanding can only provide a fraction of what happens among 1500-2000 people.
Maybe it was just the acoustics in the Dianna Wortham Center but from where I was sitting, Deva Premal's voice wasn't as enchanting as it usually is on her CD's.....However, the atmosphere was great when everyone was chanting together.
I had purchased a ticket for this event, but somehow wound up winning a pair as well. I went to the event to check out the freebies versus the one I paid for. Freebies won, hands down. GuruGanesha Band was a wild mix of some really good music, something that even my mantra-dissing friend would have loved. Ecstatic dance broke out, which was awesome. The "gift shop" tables were rife with CDs, malas, tingsha bells, flutes, scarves, Tshirts, and this cool product called Scent of Samadhi, which is a body incense. They could have used more help at the tables. Then Deva and Miten came out with Manose and Maneesh. It was intimate and the energy of love was palpable. I am still replaying the whole event.
What a life changing experience. The Love and Energy in the Auditorium was so Peaceful and Loving, it transformed me!
A remarkable heart opening evening, with two great groups. Dancing and moving and enjoying the ease and sweetness of the Guruganesha, later followed by the sublime and magical music of Deva Premal. Both groups were intimate and authentic and open with this huge multitude. It WAS transforming and magical. NOT to be missed!!
The most fun I have had in ages. The Guru Ganesh band had everyone dancing in the aisles. Deva Premal and Mitan and the beautiful flute player had us all entranced.
