Derek Richards on Tour
Derek Richards can incite a laugh no matter the situation — and he has no qualms about poking fun at anyone and anything, even the most delicate of topics. He's taken his comedy from clubs and casinos around the U.S. all the way to military bases in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa. He even made headline news as one of the first USO performers at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, soon after the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Richards welcomes any audience with his sharp comedy, and has long been sharing his relatable blue-collar tales about his Irish Catholic background, NASCAR drivers, the redneck appeal of Cracker Barrel, and his absolute biggest fear: having a stupid kid.
A Detroit native now based in Las Vegas, Richards has also appeared on Comedy Central and The Weather Channel, along with national radio shows like The Bob & Tom Show and Bob & Sheri, plus several comedy and entertainment podcasts.?
In between his guest appearances and time on the road, Richards has released a few live albums, including 2002's ‘Sensitivity Training,' which kicks off with a message that tells you exactly what you're in for: a "caustic and abrasive style" that will "offend everyone." In 2016, he also released ‘60 MPH School Zone,' in which he sets his target on Donald Trump, Cirque du Soleil, and happily married couples.
Along with his own stand-up, Richards is also the founder of The Irish Comedy Tour, which has featured fellow Irish-American comedians Mike McCarthy, Damon Leibert, and Derrick Keane.
As his own headliner, Richards continues to spread his humor — which can quickly transition from mom-approved to shamelessly offensive — to comedy clubs and corporate events across the U.S.?
